My builder just took my fireplace

I am currently having some building work done and a fireplace in the bedroom had to be removed. It is a very pretty tiled Victorian one. I had intended to sell it but with lockdown and not having any place to store it I told my builder to get rid of it. At 07:30 this Saturday morning my husband answers the door to one of the builders saying he needs to take some stuff from our site. He doesn’t say what he is taking. We weren’t expecting them today although they usually work on most Saturdays so we weren’t surprised to see one of them. It’s only when my husband sees a van from a fireplace specialist outside that he clicks that the builders have sold our fireplace. By then it is too late to go and stop them as they leave before my husband can go talk to them. AIBU to be annoyed my builder didn’t tell me what he was up to or am I being ungrateful as I told him to get rid of it ? I feel it was a bit underhand as it just happened without my knowledge. Should I say anything to my builder or let it go ?

@JesusInTheCabbageVan - I know. The OP has responded numerous times, with grace and humour.

If people don't RTFT even if Jesus herhimself tells them to, what hope we have as humans to survive

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 27/02/2021 18:23

Shall I smite them?

Shall I smite them?
Yes, please.
AlfonsoTheTerrible · 27/02/2021 18:25

Or get your dad to do it.

You said it the builder did it YABVVVU

Cloudyrainsham · 27/02/2021 18:28

Yanbu you told him to get rid of it. Although I’m gobsmacked you did that, we paid a lot of money for two that we bought on EBay!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 27/02/2021 18:28

@AlfonsoTheTerrible

Or get your dad to do it.
Or mum... 🙏
Dopeyduck · 27/02/2021 18:50

YABVVU

You told him to get rid of it and he did. Glad he could be bothered to sell than let it be wasted.

You decided to be lazy and you missed out. Your choice.

Hawkins001 · 27/02/2021 18:55

Id say, morally, it could be argued that the builder should of told you, but then on the other hand, he did as requested, so in hindsight would you have worded your instructions any differently op ?

Grinch style

Bloody hell, I am going to have to smite them, aren't I. Just got comfy and everything.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 27/02/2021 19:43

That Shrek clip is going to go over the heads of absolutely everyone except @SchrodingersImmigrant Grin

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 27/02/2021 19:46

@AlfonsoTheTerrible

Or get your dad to do it.
It'll be mum doing the smiting tonight. Dad's just bought a period fireplace for the throne room and has done his back in getting it out of the van.

Have the others gone?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 27/02/2021 20:05

Oh, JesusBlush

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 27/02/2021 20:11

That'll do, donkey. That'll do.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 27/02/2021 20:14

Btw if anyone could tell me how to add gifs and memes to a thread, I would be extremely grateful. I have to keep resorting to YouTube and it makes me feel like a second class citizen.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 27/02/2021 20:18

Just because it's you.😁
I do it on android, don't know if it's the aame. But I just download gif into a phone (if I don't already have it) and attach it like you would a picture. If anyone knows better way I will happily learn!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 27/02/2021 20:32

If I explain why I'm still struggling with the idea, I really will reveal myself to be embarrassingly thick. Blush,

Some day I will figure it out.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 27/02/2021 20:38

I just go on giphy or just google, find the right gof (there is one for everything) and then download like you would a pic.
I wonder if links work too.

Testing, testing
