@Cloudyrainsham

Everyone I know that’s had the Oxford one has felt awful after. I’m getting the jab this afternoon and am dreading it being the Oxford one.

Well, don't quote me cos it came from The Fail but MiL said that it said in there that having a reaction is good as (somehow) it means that your body will have a better immunity to it.
I'm fully prepared to admit that I don't believe a thing that comes from that paper though

TakeMe2Insanity · 25/02/2021 14:38

My mum had pfizer - vert ill (in bed) for a few days, temperature etc

Dh and I had ours 5 mins apart same batch
Him: couldn’t move arm, painful arm, temperature, fluy, extreme fatigue, paracetamol
Me: no arm issues, paracetamol, chills, extreme fatigue, heart beating faster (apple watch)

sleepylittlebunnies · 25/02/2021 14:46

I had Pfizer with no side effects only a bruised feeling around the injection site. My parents had Oxford, again no side effects. None of us have had Covid though, I’ve seen that friends who have had Covid seem to get more side effects.

I’ve booked my second injection for after night shifts in case I get side effects this time.

willstarttomorrow · 25/02/2021 14:47

Most of us at work had AZ and all felt pretty bad about 12-24 hours afterwards, very flu like, but relatively short lived. Arm really ached as well for a few days. The few who went to a different vaccine centre had pfizer and far fewer side effects but we have not had the second dose yet so who knows? Just feel very lucky that amazing scientists were able to produce such efficient vaccines in a miraculously agirt time.

TrickorTreacle · 25/02/2021 15:58

I hope this thread doesn't put people off having their vaccines, as the anti-vaxxer movement is one of my pet peeves.

I had the pfizer jab and was absolutely fine, although the flu jab last year make me feel more tired than usual. I'd rather be a bit more tired than catching flu or covid.

Get your vaccines everyone.

For humanity!

It really shouldn't. I mean like feeling crap for few days is much better than risking covid and anyone probably gets that. Vaccines rule😁

gwenneh · 25/02/2021 16:05

I had Pfizer and had a sore arm with the first jab, then about 12 hours after the second I had a mild fever and chills for about a day.

SomeRandomerOnBumsnet · 25/02/2021 16:10

I had the Pfizer yesterday. Arm is tender but not too bad, I had weird dreams last night and today woke up feeling like I'd been run over but in a 'hangover' sense, not 'flu' sense. Overall Ijust feel relieved to have had it Smile

cookiemon666 · 25/02/2021 16:11

I had AZ, had a sore arm for a couple of days, nothing else

Crankley · 25/02/2021 16:28

Having scared myself by reading all the posts on here about side effects, I had my first jab fully expecting all or some of them but had nothing, not even a sore arm.

MuddleMoo · 25/02/2021 16:30

How can you tell if you have fever as a side effect or if you happen to have caught covid?

Firkinhavinalaugh · 25/02/2021 16:33

People I know who’ve had covid have reacted with more extreme side effects than those that didn’t.

HTH

My dad is in hospital at the moment
He’s not very well and although he suffers from a variety of ill health - diabetes - copd limited mobility but all under good control .
He is generally ok in himself and has lots of family support
He had the jab two weeks ago at home and went in hospital after 1 week and the change in him is massive
I honestly thought he was on his death bed last weekend and I’m still not sure if that’s not going to be the case .
He diabetes has gone from 35 - normally it’s around -10 to a 4

The nurse said anything below 3 and that would be him going into a coma most likely

He has been a life long diabetic so it’s always been well controlled so the doctors are concerned about this massive spike and drop

His arm where he had the jab has non stop tremors and the doctors thought he had some sort of stroke as he was slurring but it’s not a stroke.
The only thing he had was the jab
He’s never had anything like this in his life so it’s concerning

He seems a bit better today but it’s awful not being able to not go and see him

im5050 · 25/02/2021 16:42

Oh and as far as we know he’s not had Covid
I had him shielding back in early March
Thanks to reading on here about it
So he’s not been to a shop since Feb last year
I’m his main contact and as far as I know i haven’t had it

sneakysnoopysniper · 25/02/2021 16:44

I had Oxford a week ago - flu like symptoms at first and still feeling a bit tired and washed out. Im in my 70s.

I’ve just had the Oxford one, feeling a tad apprehensive!
TheWernethWife · 25/02/2021 17:38

Had the Pfizer jab, sore arm the day after but nothing further.

underneaththeash · 25/02/2021 17:43

I had the oxford vaccine in January and couldn't even remember the following day which arm I'd had it in. No side effects at all!

Remember if you do have side effects to fill in a yellow card report.

Ohcomeonitsrubbish · 25/02/2021 17:53

AZ jab Monday, Tuesday totally wiped out, felt unbelievably dreadful and went back to bed. Better yesterday and today back to normal.

Paracetamol is your friend here ...

Spodge · 25/02/2021 18:20

I recently had Oxford/AZ. Slightly sore arm. Massive tiredness kicked in about 10 hours after the jab and lasted for about 12 hours. Felt totally drained, but no other symptoms. I'm in my early 50s

I hope not. A day or 2 of feeling like shit is definitely much better than the alternative
whataballbag · 25/02/2021 18:29

@MuddleMoo

How can you tell if you have fever as a side effect or if you happen to have caught covid?
I'm extremely dramatic so I went for a test.

The nurse at the vacc centre said if you have a fever for more than 24 hours or a fever with any other covid symptoms to get one.

Name99 · 25/02/2021 18:35

I'm glad I had the vaccination, and I'll be going for the 2nd one, I'll just be ready to feel rough.
I agree I'd rather have the jab than the illness.
Paracetamol is really helping, hopefully tomorrow I'll be over it.

@MuddleMoo

The fever was mild, lasted less than a day, and I was fine the next day with no issues. There was no cough, no other symptoms.
