To eat my 12 month old DD's Christmas chocolate??

Light hearted, I know this is a bit silly Grin

DD has just turned 1. For Christmas she was given a pack of Dairy Milk chocolate bars - the ones that are standard sized but half-thickness, if you know what I mean. She has had the odd treat before, mainly a couple of chocolate buttons after her vaccinations, a little bit of birthday cake etc. But I can't imagine just giving her a chocolate bar (or even half of it) just randomly, at a year old?? I just noticed that the date on it is May. Shall I eat it or would that be terrible of me!?

They would have been long gone in my house! She will have no idea so go for it.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 24/02/2021 19:20

YANBU to share the chocolate.
But chocolate isn't the devil. The odd bit doesn't hurt.

Puddymuddle · 24/02/2021 19:21

I would have eaten it by new year Grin

TheWaif · 24/02/2021 19:22

Yeah, they'd be long gone here too.

PizzaPizzaParty · 24/02/2021 19:22

Eat them. My son is 15 mo and I do give him chocolate but only a little bit here and there. I don't wait for a special occasion but she's your child of course Smile.

HauntedPencil · 24/02/2021 19:22

Nope. I used to! And Easter chocolate too

Shufflebudge · 24/02/2021 19:23

I still eat most of the crap my daughter is given and she’s 6. You’re doing her a favour!

Kimye4eva · 24/02/2021 19:23

I voted YABU. YABU not to have eaten it before now.

Shufflebudge · 24/02/2021 19:23

@Aroundtheworldin80moves but a chocolate bar? At one? Insane.....

TheSockMonster · 24/02/2021 19:24

YABU to eat your DC’s Christmas present... but no more unreasonable than 99% of parents everywhere.

It would have been gone by 1st January in this house... Blush

MsChatterbox · 24/02/2021 19:25

The moment my baby received that I would have anticipated eating it when they were in bed!

This ^

I eat the kids sweeties all the time but given them treats sometimes too, otherwise the grandparents get all the treats credit Grin

littlepattilou · 24/02/2021 19:25

YABU to not share them with us. Grin

Not the whole thing! A small bit of it. I am imagining the very thin bars here (like the milky bars) so it would be similar to a few buttons.

RootyT00t · 24/02/2021 19:28

Going against the grain here - is it really OK to just eat something given to you / paid for by someone else for your child?

A bar of chocolate just seem a bit much though!

Yes, this in spades!!

And is it really OK to just eat something given to you / paid for by someone else for your child?

Would you rather the OP waited till May them threw it in the bin? I wouldn't give a 12 month old that much chocolate, so crack on!!

MabelMoo23 · 24/02/2021 19:48

The fact you still have them now???

YABVVU

Enjoy every second of it

Dee1975 · 24/02/2021 19:52

DC needs to learn to about sharing. So yes - eat away!

bananamonkey · 24/02/2021 20:00

Yes, my then 8 month old got several chocolate reindeer, me and DH ate them.

I sometimes eat some of the 4 year olds too as she gets given an excessive amount, she loves chocolate and gets regular treats but still has stuff left in the cupboard from Halloween (actually she also has a little egg from last Easter!). Just the bits she won’t miss, as she gets older she now knows what she has saved.

Whatisthisfuckery · 24/02/2021 20:03

Meh, just eat them. If you don’t give her chocolate then you don’t create the expectation, and chocolate is bad for her anyway. It’s actually very brave of you to put yourself at risk on her behalf.

user1493413286 · 24/02/2021 20:09

It’s only unreasonable that you still have them! I ate the chocolate my 10 month old got for Christmas fairly quickly after Christmas; I plan to do the same if people get him Easter eggs!

MolotovMocktail · 24/02/2021 20:12

How bizarre to give a 10 month old baby a pack of chocolate bars for Christmas Confused I’d eat them OP.

KettleWentBang · 24/02/2021 20:16

We helped all our dcs to eat their chocolate. The 3 eldest children, each had 9 selection packs! about 6 of them tubes of sweets. Hollow santa. Hollow reindeer. Coins. You name it. All multiplied by 3 you can imagine it was crazy.
Then dhs uncle gave a large gift bag full of jelly sweets.
The 1 year old. Had lots too. But dairy free. So that's still there except some I put in food bank, it had a year's date so I'm Sure will slowly go through it.

Weve helped eat most of it. Except one night the 8 year old dsc. We passed her th box with her stuff in (we'd de boxed the selection packs for tip run) and said you may have a couple of small things. Whislt I had a bath and dh sorted baby. To come down she's eaten about 11 choc bars! She said well you said a couple!

AutoIncorrect · 24/02/2021 20:20

How the hell have you managed not to already? I’m seriously impressed. That would have been down my neck on Boxing Day!
