Ok, I've just heard on the radio that because the C19 vaccine has at some point, in the last God knows how long, was tested on animals, and this means that adults and children who are Vegan are going to refuse to have it done.

Has the World gone mad??

AIBU to think you going to let your child or yourself refuse a potentially life saving preventative medicine???? This is akin to a Jehovahs Witness refusing a blood transfusion to save a life surely?

I think they don't realise nearly all medication is testes on animals first. If they had cancer would they refuse treatment becuase it was tested on animals?

Sparklesocks · 24/02/2021 10:01

Bit of a generalisation there OP. Just because you've heard that 'some' vegans are refusing it doesn't mean every single person who eats a vegan diet will. Surely that's obvious.

YABU as non issue

Nooch · 24/02/2021 10:07

I’m vegan and have had the vaccine.

MessAllOver · 24/02/2021 10:13

I imagine it's a bit like a Venn diagram.

One circle is labelled "Vegans".

One circle is labelled "Anti-vaxxers".

There is a small area in the middle where the two circles overlap. Not worth getting excited about.

My sister vegan and she had it .

re the non halal & Muslims - haven't the Muslim Council, Iman's & Mosques stated that it is & some Mosques are actually vaccination centres?
the problem is the (not!) blessed internet misinformation & when people narrow their search interests in one way or another there is likely to be a more kind of centred misinformation.
You should read the twitter attack on vaccines - its horrendous & misinformed, false fakes et al

ExConstance · 24/02/2021 10:32

The Vegan Society recommends that vegans be vaccinated against Covid 19. There are Vegans working in my team, they have had the vaccine. This sounds like a non problem to me.

LeaveMyDamnJam · 24/02/2021 10:34

I’m a vegan of many many years. I will be getting my jab ASAP.

OrangeSamphire · 24/02/2021 10:38

Pretty sure this is a non issue OP

My entire family live a vegan lifestyle. Decisions are made on how we can do least harm to other beings, and the planet. Having a covid vaccine is essential and there is no choice to pick a non-animal tested version as there is with, say, cosmetics.

I’ve just come back from having my vaccine.
