Weight gain or loss during lockdown?

Basically the title? I’ve lost weight? I also seem to have toned up a bit , tummy needs more work though. I walk a lot but I also have days where I do nothing but go up and down the stairs.

Gained and then lost half a stone first lockdown. Gained it again over Christmas and January, now almost back to where I started Hmm. Determined to keep going and lost another half by Easter and then another by summer.

Mumofboys1 · 20/02/2021 08:31

I gained a lot of weight in lockdown one- however by June I started to realise I had to change and now I’m 2stone 6lb down- I’d like to lose another 9lb really- slowly edging it off!

TankGirl97 · 20/02/2021 08:38

@Scarby9

Loss in the first. Gain in the second. Summer / winter difference, I think.
Same here. I got quite a lot fitter in 2020. Since Christmas my mojo has gone and I've gained a little.
Buggritbuggrit · 21/02/2021 04:07

Gained a stone during the first lockdown (we were cooking elaborate meals, drinking far too much wine and doing very little else).

Then I freaked out and started exercising for the first time in my life. Have lost two and half stone and I’m currently fitter than I’ve been in my life. I almost have abs! It’s a lockdown miracle! Grin

poblwcymru · 21/02/2021 06:20

I've gained about half a stone this year. Am a Stone above my 'favourite' weight and really do need to lose it now.

Lostinspace23 · 21/02/2021 06:43

Stayed the same until I got pregnant last summer. Had a late miscarriage and found myself carrying an extra stone that wouldn’t shift. Lost most of it, and now pregnant again so slowly gaining. The first trimester nausea drives me to eat carbs when I’d normally be low carb. Being over 40 isn’t helping either!

DH started doing Joe Wicks full body work outs a few times a week and lost over 1/2 a stone, having already been v slim to begin with.

alanpartridgefromtheoasthouse · 21/02/2021 06:46

Gained 2 stone. I'm now trying to lose it. It's hard though- so few pleasures available except for food and drink!

Peanutbutterblood · 21/02/2021 06:55

Loss. I dont know how much I dont ever weigh myself but I've toned up a lot through exercise. I dont think I've lost loads though. I'd say I've gone from a small 12 to a definite 10 if that makes sense. My clothes all fit lovely whereas before they were quite tight.

Hollyhead · 21/02/2021 07:05

I gained half a stone in lockdown one, half heartedly lost some of it through the autumn so I could get my clothes on. Feasted for a fortnight at Christmas. Finally took action and have low carved for 5 weeks, lost 8lb and I look and feel amazing. Hoping to keep it off !

2020BogOff · 21/02/2021 07:11

Gained. WFH means longer hours and less walking about. More stress in the week and more boredom at the weekend has led me to eat more. The combination of the two has meant 1.5 stone weight gain.

Trying to turn it around Sad

DinosaurDiana · 21/02/2021 07:12

I’ve put on.
Furloughed twice so more opportunity to snack.

Oysterbabe · 21/02/2021 07:19

I weigh the same but have lost fitness, I'm a lot less active now I WFH.

TurquoiseDress · 21/02/2021 07:24

Gained weight

Am 'only' around 5kg heavier than I was this time last year, jeans are too tight so none fit comfortably anymore.

Boobs also bigger which is a bonus but I don't like the fat body which goes with it

The exercising to tackle all this has started!

Karmatime · 21/02/2021 07:43

Gained, not sure how much as I don’t own scales but jeans are snugger. I think it all went on in lockdown 1 and hasn’t got any worse so I’m lacking incentive to do anything about it. Once things open up and I need to wear said jeans (rather than yoga pants and leggings day in day out) I will hopefully do something about it. I do still exercise but that’s on average half an hour a day, the remaining 23.5 hours I’m mainly sitting, sleeping or eating.

DrunkenKoala · 21/02/2021 07:55

L1 gained half a stone
Beg July - Beg Nov lost 1.5 (weekly swimming and daily power walk up a hill after dropping DD at school)
L2 neither
Dec and L3 gained a stone (keep baking cakes)

Rayna37 · 21/02/2021 08:03

Gain. Still a healthy BMI but about 10lbs from my lowest, and at least half a stone from where I normally float. The Pool being closed is a minor factor but mainly it's been eating more refined carbs than usual, with cooking and eating being one of the few remaining joys! No motivation to fit into "going out" clothes and not seeing many people also a factor. Lost the extra in Oct/Nov but went wild with the festive food and eating out in December and back into a lockdown end of days mentality in the new year.

Given up cake, puddings, biscuits, chocolate, beer, etc for lent to kickstart getting a grip on it all. The lack of likely requirement for a beach body is definitely a de-motivator though.

Cripesitsthegasman19 · 21/02/2021 08:07

I've lost a stone thanks to anxiety robbing me of my appetite.

beela · 21/02/2021 08:08

Lost initially - no appetite due to stress. Gained a couple of lb overall, but clothes all still fit.

LizziesTwin · 21/02/2021 08:13

The ZOE study gave a presentation on this 10 days ago. One million people responded but the takeaway was that an equal number gained & loss pretty much the same amount of weight. Here it is COVID HEALTH BEHAVIOURS.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 21/02/2021 08:26

I've lost three stone. It was nearer four but I struggle over winter due to SAD.

Am now on a medication for something else which seems to have really reduced my appetite - which for the time being I'm happy to embrace!

I was always on a long road with weight loss so I'll be happy to keep going over the next year to get to where I want to be, regardless of what happens with lockdowns.

deplorabelle · 21/02/2021 08:26

Gained due to shielding. When shielders were allowed out for walks I lost some. Went back on a bit this winter as work got so busy I didn't have time for walks and only exercised at weekends.

I naturally tend to gain weight at times of stress. And I have needed to provide a certain amount of cakes and treats to two teen boys who have led a very quiet life to support my shielding. (They went to school when schools were open but only walks and summer picnics for excitement. No shopping, hospitality or holidays all summer)
