Things you bought in lockdown and wish you hadn't bothered

Mine is an Instant Pot. I mean, it's okay, I guess, but I find it a big faff to use and things quite often come out with a weird texture. Would not recommend.

What else do you regret buying?

Twelve cotton reusable masks from a school friend’s business. I wanted to support small businesses and be environmentally friendly. They were a close fit to start with, which made them pull a bit on my ears, but no worries. And then they all shrunk in the wash (40 degrees, cotton) and are really unwearable now.

Everyone laughed at my first lockdown purchase of a sodastream but I use it every day.

I bought one a few weeks before the first lockdown and I love it. Though just at the moment I am hoarding the gas because I don't know whether you can exchange them or not. Does anyone know if Argos-in-Sainsburys are doing gas cylinder exchanges?

Has anyone bought a Peloton and regretted it?

I love my airfryer. But a lot of that is because I have a huge cast-iron range for my oven - which takes about 45min+ to heat up. It is amazing and I love it - but you can't just pop in some chips or fishfingers etc. Airfryer means I can do a fishfinger sandwich in 5 minutes, perfect bacon in 3 minutes or cook some veggie sausages for DD if we are having something meaty...all without putting the oven on for an hour.

I don't think I'd use it if I had a regular fan oven though.

Yes, but you have to pre book it. But you can also exchange them in larger Sainsbury's at the till. They have them on the shelves along with Diet Coke mix (may have become slightly addicted to that....)

I’ve loved all of our lockdown purchases. I got a Philips Lumia as I couldn’t get to the beauty therapist for waxing - it’s excellent and does everything except brows so has been a great investment with all of the lockdowns. An egg poaching pan with individual slots for each egg - used every day by one or all of us. Les Mills step and weights set with accessories, used regularly in conjunction with On Demand (and also by ds who has his own weights).

Has anyone bought a Peloton and regretted it?

We’ve just ordered a Peloton Tread which has excellent reviews. The kids and I are really looking forward to it arriving.

@Avebury You are my people! I can't be dealing with an encyclopaedia of instructions. Nope!

I am way too disorganised for that!

Thanks @GreyBow, I shall investigate.

A push bike, had grand ideas about going on bike rides, waited months for delivery and it's been sat in shed since last August!

@nellly

My robot vacuum is a lifesaver. Especially now I'm pregnant and exhausted!

Nice clothes that I thought I would wear when lockdown ended and now it might finally end I'm pregnant Hmm

Love my robot vacuum.

I also bought nice clothes last January when I returned from maternity leave. I got my first contract a week after lockdown and I too am pregnant again. I’ve only worn them to funerals🙁

One of those cat entertainment, scratching, play things. The cat viewed it and me with distain and never looked at it again!

WingingItSince1973 · 21/02/2021 12:35

I paid for a couple of online courses during first lockdown. Things I'm interested in rather than career advancing. Thought I'd have all the time in the world. Nearly a year later and I think I've looked at them once 😭

zigzagbetty · 21/02/2021 12:44

Hot wax kit! I still haven't got the nerve up to use it! Also bought work clothes online when I was sick in April with corona, still hanging with tags on and we've been told unlikely to ever return full time to the office.
With the instant pot, it took me a while but I do love it now for being able to leave it. Mash potatoes are amazing, put potatoes in cover with cold water, seal and pressure cook for 10 min. Makes the smoothest mash ever!

GooodMythicalMorning · 21/02/2021 12:50

size 12 gake leather type jeggings. now too fat for them Hmm

That pretty much describes any toy I have bought my cats except very cheap catnip mice which get torn to pieces in a couple of days.

That crumpled up piece of paper on the other hand - fun for hours

Nydj · 21/02/2021 13:48

Swingball - thought it would be nice for me and adult DS to mess around in the garden with. It sat in the garden all summer and made me feel guilty until DH finally took pity on us all and emptied the base and put it away.

GooodMythicalMorning · 21/02/2021 16:07

bsl course is another one. just don't have the energy even though it'd benefit me greatly to actually do it.
