To be utterly besotted with Kirstie and Phil

I have been up all night (insomnia ☹) and watching really old reruns of Location, Location, Location and I can't believe how much I love Phil and Kirstie.

I think I have a massive embarrassing crush on Phil and his personable manner but I also love the idea that he seems like a happily married man with such a lovely relationship with his long term work wife. He just seems so wholesome and like he would make a good family friend.

I love Kirstie. I'm in my 20s but love her style, her confidence, everything, even when I think she is being a little pushy or overbearing. I feel like we would get on!

They just feel like good old friends and I love watching them and all their spin offs.

YABU - Nobody watches that crap and they are out of touch and rather annoying
YANBU -They make for great viewing!

I like watching them too. I enjoyed the Christmas Show.

I just wish the house shows would have a more balanced show with houses with lower prices. When they are going to change lay out they all have large budgets that most go over. I would like to see them change rooms for small budget and show terrace houses and council houses. And no I don’t live in either.

Looking for houses /flats how about some under a £100,000 and some under £50,000.

hunted problem deer

That’s not hunting. That’s shooting.

JeanSpinneysSmallPleasures · 19/02/2021 09:07

Clickable link of PS with deer. Looks like a man who gets a kick out of the killing, countryside management or not.

Kirstie is a dick, her comments are social media show that.

wigornian · 19/02/2021 09:13

Sorry to contribute to the slight derailing of this thread OP, and I admire those posters gamely continuing to focus on the programme and what they enjoy. The sanctimony in some quarters of MN really is tiresome - there are some very pathetic people out there, their petty inverse snobbery is really self-defeating; you know I enjoy lots of programmes, sometimes the entire casts are lefties - it doesn't matter, I enjoy what they do. To just dismiss someone as a privileged Tory and made snide remarks about their background, says more about you than them. Grow up.

RaspberryCoulis · 19/02/2021 09:15

@bonfireheart

Kirstie is a dick, her comments are social media show that.
No, what you mean is that you don't agree with her. Someone who doesn't agree with you isn't automatically a "dick".

And yes to the sanctimony.

Nonamesavail · 19/02/2021 09:16

I've been watching List it or Love it. Just nice to switch off too in the evening.

Bangable · 19/02/2021 09:18

Phil is definitely not the saintly husband some are making him out to be.

MasterBeth · 19/02/2021 09:20

It’s only by watching similar shows that you realise how good they are as TV presenters. They are amiable without being unbearable, competent without seeming superior.

True character is not found in an on-screen persona, however, but by the way you live your life. You can be perfectly polite and presentable but be a bit awful deep down.

Okokokbear · 19/02/2021 09:22

They just come across like posh tories to me. So Yabu

Shooting is a technique used to hunt deer Confused It amounts to the same thing
lurch3r · 19/02/2021 09:24

@Hilda40

Phil called a manege a menage. I've never forgiven him.
Yup, I remember that one vividly. They can't be that posh to let that slide. I was shouting at the TV for the whole episode. Grin
HollowTalk · 19/02/2021 09:25

@Bangable

Phil is definitely not the saintly husband some are making him out to be.
What's your evidence of this?
TooMuchYarn · 19/02/2021 09:27

Yes, I love LLL and Kirstie & Phil work so well together as presenters. You can tell they've been friends for years, and so nice to see people just getting on, and they are lovely to the 'clients' - even the bonkers ones. I have LLL and LIOLI set to series record, which picks up all the random re-runs at 3am on ITV2 and such. Then watch them when I'm missing family and friends and it's all getting a bit much - perfect viewing with a duvet and hot chocolate.

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 19/02/2021 09:34

I like them as a pair, a bit like a fictional duo - Dempsey and Makepeace, maybe. I avoid reading real life stuff about them as they will undoubtably have feet of clay.

ZaraW · 19/02/2021 09:37

I really don't like them. Phil comes across as smug.

Silenceisgolden20 · 19/02/2021 09:38

If you like watching them, that's great. Everyone has different presenters they like and dislike.
I don't know anything about their personal backgrounds/life and tbh, that doesn't effect how they present as that is their job.

I find Kirsty a bit twee and the home craft stuff a bit dull as it's not for me.

BilboBercow · 19/02/2021 09:41

As a presenting duo they work well together. Some of her personal views expressed on social media make me think she's someone I'd find personally unpleasant

JeanSpinneysSmallPleasures · 19/02/2021 09:41

wiggy - you do seem to be a bad tempered sort.

I liked P&K when their format was fresh and they were engaging. For me the format is stale now so the show rests on their personalities and the more I hear of them (the views Kirstie spouts off on SM and MSM, the photo of Phil looking delighted to have killed a creature) makes me dislike them and not enjoy the show. That's not sanctimony, it's an opinion.

felulageller · 19/02/2021 09:43

I feel like I've grown up with them. I started watching LLL as a young adult and it has influenced my life so much! I made housebuying a priority in my life, got on the property ladder early and have come out much better off for it compared to my peers who went off travelling/ kept renting in snazzy areas etc.

Now they are older and fatter it makes me not feel so bad about my own ageing!

I dislike a lot of their political views but they still seem nice enough.

Dahlietta · 19/02/2021 09:43

I avoid reading real life stuff about them as they will undoubtably have feet of clay.

I think this is excellent advice for television-viewing in general.

JudgeRindersMinder · 19/02/2021 09:44

Kirstie is my absolute girl crush, both for the property shows and the crafts

VinylDetective · 19/02/2021 09:45

Ah yes, the delightful Kirstie Allsopp who smashed her children’s iPad. What a charmer she is.

BlackberrySky · 19/02/2021 09:45

I think the format has had its day - it's a bit tired. I used to enjoy them but over the years I've started to find Kirstie's voice and manner very irritating and I can't move on from that!

Tana433 · 19/02/2021 09:46

She is awful, have you not been on Twitter lately?
