...or items?

Mine have been:

  1. A large transparent command hook that I put on the side of a chest of drawers to hang my hairdryer on (I tried lots of other sticky hooks before but that was the only one that actually worked)
  1. Buying all the same clothes hangers so DD's clothes look tidier
  1. A large kitchen sink tidier which has instantly made the kitchen side less messy

I am on a constant mission to improve our living spaces, so AIBU to ask what yours have been?

Leggings - never owned lounge wear before because I never really had time to lounge

A little fold up table - £9 from Dunelm but has been super handy to rest laptop on when zooming from the sofa and also has made a good desk alternative when having to take work video calls from bedroom when dining table is otherwise in use

Dishwasher - has made my life so much easier then the endless washing up cycle

Bimblybomeyelash · 19/02/2021 00:02

Hot tub

BikeRunSki · 19/02/2021 00:06

A really warm chunky wool jumper.
Long wooly socks, the type that landed gentry wear with plus fours
Fingerless gloves

I’m not stylish, but I am warm

Mamanyt · 19/02/2021 00:13

Jeggings. I had never worn them before, having thought that at my size, I would look like an apple on toothpicks. To my amazement, they look GOOD, and MY GOD ARE THEY COMFORTABLE! Now I can be dressed, but feel like I"m in my pajamas!

MooseBreath · 19/02/2021 00:18

A (used) jumperoo. DS can bounce to his heart's content and I can do some of the endless stream of dishes.

doublenotdobble · 19/02/2021 00:19

Similar to others, heated throw, pod coffee machine for my bedroom for an early morning cup, Disney plus, printer, Shiatsu neck and shoulder massager, and finally a sewing machine. Don't think I've mentioned anything new here, I'm clearly pretty basic!

doublenotdobble · 19/02/2021 00:22

Oh and an Oodie and an air fryer. Every day I think what can I air fry today 😂

SingingSands · 19/02/2021 00:24

Playmobil > When on a brief staycation last summer I purchased some sets to build up a camp site. No idea why - I just did it. This led to me creating a soap opera where: A child has an accident, people came to their aid and improvised ways to get them to hospital, eg icecream carts; others were selfishly first helping themself to icecream, or more concerned with frying sausages. One day there's a cat involved. The next, squirrels are nosying around. Every day there's a cliffhanger. The soap opera is for an audience of one (my husband, who knows me well).

The outcome of this activity for me is that I realise lockdowns and constant deprivition of liberties made me turn into a slightly insane person; but also that you can find creativity in all kinds of ways. And creativity is really therapeutic, however form you find it in.

This is brilliant! There’s a fun thread in classics about An outbreak of Covid for the Playmobil people that someone has done.

I bought a litter picker-upper stick. It’s great to use on walks to clean up the verges. Gives a nice focus to the walk and a sense of purpose. Lots of people say hello and thank you as they go past, so it help create some social contact.

This is lovely. Our local council gives these to people who request one so they can do their bit!

RatherLostPenguins · 19/02/2021 00:35

15mm thick non-slip yoga/Pilates mat (so much comfier on hard floors and doesn't slide like my old one did)

Ring Fit Adventure on the Switch

Naked Wines "Angel account", we pay £35 per month and every time the account is over £100 in credit I order another case of wine (free delivery over £100 which is why I wait for that). You get discounts and free bottles with it too and we don't notice the £35 payment as much as we would notice the £100+ order every 3 months.

PrincessNutNuts · 19/02/2021 00:38

@itsnotmeitsu Whatever works for you. I can see the appeal. We still have tons of the stuff that nobody wants to part with. I missed a trick by not donating it to the small cousins years ago.

I've become a re-watcher and re-reader during this past year which is a bit of a departure for me.

And I'm wearing hardly any of my "normal" clothes. Since I discovered that if you put some jewellery on, a plain sweatshirt suddenly looks perfectly presentable on Zoom I don't feel bad about my new warm loungewear. (It doesn't work with my hooded dressing gown though, more's the pity. Grin)

Adjustable dumbells

LemonadeSunshine · 19/02/2021 00:57

Cashmere fingerless gloves (seconds 'make do and mend') from Turtle Doves worn almost every day, inside and out - I'm a cold soul!
Used (once only) Hunters wellies from ebay make the playground and muddy walks bearable
Reams (and reams) of paper for LOs crafts
Printer (free from Freecycle), generic cartridges are £8
Kallax for the bedroom, finally got storage organised

MostIneptThatEverStepped · 19/02/2021 01:04

So many things..,pick'n'mix ordered online in lockdowns 1 and 3.

Birkenstock Arizona Eva, the plastic ones, I have lived in them for the last year, with and without socks.

Plant pots, potting compost and a few plants. The spider plants I was asked to bring home from the office a year ago have had multiple babies 😂 I have enjoyed adding loads of plants to my kitchen.

Second screen and lovely padded foot rest (although I still can't find comfortable places to put my feet while working).

Little mini card wallet that sticks to the back of my phone. Don't take a purse any more when I go out.

Rubybluesy · 19/02/2021 01:04

Case of wine Grin

LunarCatAndDaffodils · 19/02/2021 01:16

Doughnut bed for the cat
Waffle maker
Shiatsu massage chair cover
Hair clippers
Party poppers, balloons and confetti cannon

80sMum · 19/02/2021 01:20

In Lockdown 1 it was two sets of heatproof & freezerproof glass containers with clip on lids, for batch cooking meals for the freezer, so we didn't have to go shopping too often.

In Lockdown 2 I finally took out a subscription for Netflix and binge watched Breaking Bad, which I had never seen.

In this 3rd Lockdown my best buy has been an 8 week online keep fit course.

ifitpleasesandsparkles · 19/02/2021 01:21

Heavy duty metal shelving for all my extra groceries . Sooo tidy !

JackieWeaver4PrimeMinister · 19/02/2021 01:58

I adopted 9 chickens and 5 quails, having never owned more than a gold fish before. It's been great, I am now a crazy chicken lady. Little fuckers still aren't laying yet, some are bald due to stress (from their past home! I promise I'm not laying into them too much about the lack of eggs), so I also crochet'ed chicken jumpers for them. I literately have lost the plot. I'm 26, I've literately got no hope. Kinda want a command hook now, for all my chicken stuff.

JackieWeaver4PrimeMinister · 19/02/2021 02:10

@UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername I have found my tribe, fellow lockdown chicken owner
