Men peeing. Why so loud

wishywashywoowoo70 · 17/02/2021 20:09

So I've tried Googling this with no luck.

My teenager pees really loudly. Straight into the water like a thoroughbred race horse.
You can hear him 2 rooms away

Are men meant to pee against the side or is this normal.

It might be me mind because I hate people hearing me pee.

I'm pretty sure my DH stands on the roof, fills an oil drum with pee and throws it into our toilet ... it's the only explanation for all the noise

campion · 17/02/2021 22:30

TheRhythmlessMan

There should be some sort of guidelines in the national curriculum

I'm still thinking about my new Fact Of The Day. You've got me obsessed now damn it.

So, a man can't push the pee out? Is that actually right? So is the momentum of urine just gravity? Why could they hold it in but not push it out? So many questions!

Notjustanymum · 18/02/2021 11:26

“FGS, DS/H, point Percy at the porcelain!”

Rillington · 18/02/2021 11:28

My DH is the same. I can hear him in the toilet when I am downstairs with the doors shut.

Eaumyword · 18/02/2021 11:33

This thread is so funny and informative!
I'm just jealous as I'm quite sure my enormous thighs muffle any noise when I'm on the loo, although DH who is wfh in the kitchen below does not concur Wink

hansgrueber · 18/02/2021 11:44

@JosephineDeBeauharnais

Despite what they seem to think, it is possible for them to pee sitting down. Ideally they should be taught to pee sitting down when an actual toilet is available and to pee standing up when outdoors, because they can.
Why? Simply because some delicate females don't like the noise? Why do women expect the world to rotate to suit them! I'm sure that there are many things that women do that annoy men!
TakeTheCuntOutOfScunthorpe · 18/02/2021 11:49

This thread is bizarre. It would be like a men's forum wanting to know why women take longer to go for a piss than men do. Men and women have different mechanics and equipment to use, hence men are faster and women are quieter. I thought that was pretty obvious?

I dunno - who sets the rules on this?

Pisscom or something?

megapack · 18/02/2021 12:05

Hang on, if they can't push it out then how do they know they're done? Like how do they get that last bit out of their bladder?

My husband is definitely not faster. His pee goes on for ever.
Akire · 18/02/2021 12:08

It must be just as easy to direct into the water as slightly against the side. It doesn’t need an engineer degree, just a waddle of their equipment.

StrikeItLuckyShuffle · 18/02/2021 12:51

My partner does this
He’s 6ft 2 and it sounds like he’s chucking a bucket of water down the toilet when he goes !

It is - I don’t pee into the water, I’ll aim for the back or the side

I can also control my flow when sat down

CoronaIsWatching · 18/02/2021 12:55

My DF did this. He always left the bathroom door open and it sounded like someone running a bath. It was so loud you could hear it all round the house. He even did it when we had guests over. It was mortifying.

Arrivederla · 18/02/2021 13:06

Basically men don't give a shit how their behaviour affects the people around them (like pissing incredibly loudly with the door open while others are on work Zoom calls!) Women - generally - are a bit more considerate.

GAVEL!

😂 Never realised this was an issue for so many women! Have to say it's never passed my mind how loud my bf peeing is, I don't really care. I think asking your partner to pee against the side of the loo is a bit ridiculous tbh!

You can push it out if you’re sat down, I think the momentum is the muscles around the bladder, so you just relax the muscles you would normally relax to pee and it comes out.

It’s sphincters in your urethra and muscles around your urethra that keep your wee in, not your abdominal muscles, in men anyway, no idea about women.

We aim for the water because if we aim for the porcelain it goes everywhere, and then we get complained at for pee on the floor.

And if I sit down then I don't feel as "empty" at the end, have to stand up to get the dregs out or sit there for another minute or so.

Also, there's touching, I'd rather not have any part of my body accidentally touch the bowl of the toilet unless I have to, its bad enough that I have to risk it for a number 2.

As for the sound. I grew up with a house full of brothers, I'm now vastly outnumbered by women. You're really no quieter. Yeah, we're splashier, but you lot have that power washer hissy noise going on. And why does it matter anyway? Its the sound of liquid hitting liquid

Yes, men get the advantage of being able to go outside, but that gets offset by the vastly more frequent issue of urinal etiquette, so I reckon we're even.

I'll happily let women win the overall war of who's genitals are harder work, but I reckon the urination battle comes out as a draw.

SmokedDuck · 18/02/2021 17:35

Is this a joke complaint? It seems incredibly petty otherwise.

Yeah I kinda agree with this. I wouldn't want my knob touching the bowl, tbh I'm generally jealous would rather piss standing, the floating crouch invariably ends up with piss in my boots. The men in my house all sound like they are drilling through the floor but it is preferable to pissing ON the floor, saying that since having kids I think I sound like a horse.
LakieLady · 18/02/2021 17:44

Pmsl at "power washer hissy noise". Grin

likeamillpond · 18/02/2021 17:53

A mans urethra causes urine to ‘spiral’, this means urine leaves faster and in a more defined stream

Can you explain further?
I can't picture it. Confused

How about a diagram?
