Been done for speeding... twice (does anyone know about the speed awareness course?)

I know I'm an absolute twat and feel free to tell me that.

I was caught speeding on the 3rd and again on the 9th in the same place. Both letters came this morning. Going to post the forms off tomorrow and wait to hear back and hopefully I will be offered the course as an alternative to taking 6 points. I was hoping I could take the course for the first fine and then only have to take 3 points but I'm not sure how it works.

I've googled it and it saids you should be eligible as long as you haven't been caught in the last 3 years. I was only slightly over the limit (not that it makes it right)

How does it work if you've been caught twice so close together ?

@pinkstripeycat

My nephews 20yr old friend was killed last Feb by a speeding driving going 30 in a 20mph limit. Knocked her from the path (driver mounted the kerb) to the opposite side and smashed her in to a brick wall. 20 years old! You lot all need to think when you are driving. Each one of you potentially could have killed someone
Exactly. Cant believe the laid back attitude to speeding. An embarrassed emoji does not make it right. Ffs.

Can't

@Elai1978

Should be able to get course for one and points for the other, don’t sweat it. I understand the courses done over zoom are shorter than the face to face ones so that’s a bonus.
Why not let op altogethet? Fucking hell.

Read the OP. Her very first sentence admits she knows she was in the wrong. As do the last words of the penultimate paragraph. In case some of you need reminding, here we are again:

*I know I'm an absolute twat and feel free to tell me that...

...(not that it makes it right)*

Always look for the positives! I say that as someone caught at over 200kph on a continental trip.

The best speed awareness I had, was when I was pulled over by 2 police officers, I was doing 25 in a 20 zone, yes, disgusting. But it made me so aware as they gave me the choice of 3 points and a 60 pound fine or to answer questions by year 6Pupils from the local school, who were standing further down with teachers and a councillor.
The children asked me things like, had I sped before?, did I think I could have killed a child? and at the end have I learnt anything from this?.
Well, it really worked, I kept seeing their faces for a while after that, and tbh, I am certain I have never exceeded the limit again.

The speed awareness courses are so interesting/helpful I'm not sure why it's not something you have to cover before passing your test and then have update ones when people speed.

Superb

I had similar wake up call when DBro asked me "If you didn't see the big man in the hi viz jacket, how would you see my son/your nephew if he ran out?"

I was duly chastened. Id already accepted the speed awareness course, but I was genuinely a reformed driver by the time it came round.

Cross examination by Y6 kids is genius. They can be tough cookies!

Rubyupbeat when I did my speed course they were very clear that its one thing doing a 80 in a 70 but they came down hard on those speeding in 20s and 30s be abuse the potential damage is so significant

Doingtheboxerbeat · 18/02/2021 18:50

I have loaded gun that accidentally went off and no one was hurt but I was caught nonetheless so do you know what the penalty will be ?

megletsecond · 18/02/2021 19:26

See if you can take an advanced drivers course when things are normal again. The Institute of advanced motorists are good.

Livelovebehappy · 18/02/2021 19:35

I’ve done speed awareness course and it was fine. Actually more like a social gathering with a bit of speed awareness thrown in between. Biscuits and coffee. Some funny stories on how some people had ended up on the course.
