Were Christmas Eve boxes not enough?!

I’ve just seen these advertised on Facebook. Is this a thing now? Must we have a cutesy box for every single calendar event? Where are people keeping these crates as they endlessly accumulate?

Egg hunts aren’t work or an effort. They are a glorious honing of the killer instinct to hunt down more prey than your peers and be cheered to victory.

I admit I was wrong... I stand corrected. You have properly summed up the ethos of the egg hunt! The purpose of course being to train the little ones up for the Hunger Games when they turn 12.

MessAllOver · 17/02/2021 16:57

@HauntedPencil. Great minds...

Stripesnomore · 17/02/2021 17:06

Now that the kids are grown up, maybe I will do a hunger games themed egg hunt...

Worried, I didn’t know about Pinterest lunch boxes, I will have a look into them.

I want to find more spring and summer themed things to do with adult kids.

GeordieGreigsButtButtZoom · 17/02/2021 17:11

I want to know more about this Hunger Games themed egg hunt.

RoseMartha · 17/02/2021 17:13

It looks quite cute.

My dc are too old for it so wont be buying into it myself.

Stripesnomore · 17/02/2021 17:15

Well, prior to lockdown, we did a lot of escape rooms. I had been planning on turning the garden into a kind of Alice in Wonderland themed puzzle/egg hunt, but am now thinking Hunger Games would be more exciting with some kind of archery event. I can turn the shed into the cornucopia and call names out of a kitchen bowl.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 17/02/2021 17:43

What I can’t stand is the huge bundles of cheap sweets such as curly wurlies bunched together in some cellophane & being sold on FB for £15 , funnily the seller only ever has one or two left , so hurry & buy this crap that you could have bought for £2 ! That’s if you want your children to have a pile of teeth rotting extortion . Oh & they also do a bunch of love hearts & refreshers too . Just why ??

Maybe I'm on to something here - I should be selling Hunger Games egg hunt kits

Huh, just more mindless consumerist landfill for families who don't love each other.
Stripesnomore · 17/02/2021 19:02

If only one family member is left standing at the end of it you will have resolved the consumerism issue.

WhatAboutThatThen · 17/02/2021 19:12

We always had easter baskets as kids, although much smaller, just space for one big easter egg and some smaller ones.

Makes it cheaper the following year then too right?
Familyshopper · 18/02/2021 08:30

They don’t endlessly accumulate because you can have one for each event & just keep them In the loft I don’t think you are supposed to keep buying them you reuse them that’s the point

DragonMoth · 19/02/2021 00:49

These boxes and the Christmas Eve boxes tell me is that always gullible people who will pay for anything and plenty of people that will take advantage of it to fill their pockets.

What happened to making up (decorating) Easter baskets with your kids?
What happened to spending time with your kids on Christmas eve keeping them entertained with stories, roasting chestnuts or marshmallows, singing and playing games?

What happened to not being rude just because people do things differently to you?

I don’t know how to tell you this. Sit down now, cause you’re in for a shock...

People can buy Easter boxes AND spend time with their children.

Hope you recover from the shock of that information.

@Nohomemadecandles

There is really no need to get personal and insulting.

DragonMoth · 20/02/2021 20:00

@Nohomemadecandles

You can toast marshmallows over a candle. Grin

You rather started that with your name calling of people who buy Christmas Eve or Easter boxes...

DragonMoth · 20/02/2021 20:04

@JustLyra

Apologies, I was just voicing my opinion, did mean to cause offense.

I thought that's what people do here. I didn't insult anyone in particular.

Ah, I get it, you're allowed to voice your opinion, but anyone who voices their opinion on your opinion is unfair... Gotcha
