To get a nosejob

Nosejobent · 14/02/2021 19:25

I’m 40, married with children and happy but can’t seem to shake off being conscious of the size of my nose. I think zoom has made it worse!
Where does one begin the process to decide whether this is a suitable thing to consider in your 40s during a pandemic?
Ent surgeon recommendations in north west welcome!

If you can afford it and you want it, why on earth not?

MollysDolly · 05/11/2021 16:25

Is £6k the going average rate?

dhalia · 30/06/2022 17:21

Hi, I wondered how you got on with your rhinoplasty with Duncan Atherton? I am considering getting mine done with him. I'm 59 and have left it a long time, and my nose has definitely grown since my 20s/30s/40s. I would be interested to know if you are happy with your procedure if you don't mind sharing?

Nosejobent · 21/11/2022 13:14

I doubt anyone is now going to see this but just wanted to “say” to someone: I got it done and can move on from my username!
plaster still on for a week so early days!
There is pain but manageable with regular pain killers.

Good for you! I'm finally considering one in my later 50s.

dhalia · 21/11/2022 15:57

Congratulations - and me too! I had mine on 11th Nov with Duncan Atherton. Hope you're feeling good. I'm 60 (ugh!) and can't believe how well it's gone. I was warned that my age might count against me for recovery but so far so good. If you want to swap notes I'm here! x

Perhaps this is the wrong way to view cosmetic surgery, but if you're (happily?) married then I really can't see the point.

Congratulations Nosejobent! I hope you’re very happy with it. I had mine done in my 30s and wish I’d done it sooner. Two things I noticed: it took almost a year for all the feeling to come back in the tip of my nose and it was strange going diving with a smaller nose to equalise with!

YANBU and I’d have a nose job in a second if I had the money!

Me too, my nose is exactly how my deardeparted mum described as ‘all over my face’ 😟 its all i see when i look at photos of me, happy enough with the rest of my face but oh dear… that nose

Nosejobent · 21/11/2022 18:18

wow didn’t expect anyone to comment, so pleased to hear from all of you!

for those of you who had it done (dhalia and fightingtalk) would love to know how people reacted I e did they notice? I don’t want anyone to know, how delusional is that?! SleeplessinEngland, the decision was nothing at all to do with my husband, or anyone else. Clichéd as it sounds, it was all about what I thought and how my nose seemed to be taking over my face!

AnchorWHAT that sounds like what my Asian side of the family would say! In fact they probably did!

AllTheSunshine, as you can gather from the date of my original post, it did take me a while to finally go through with it!!

@Nosejobent In forties too, always had a conk, would you be able to share what it cost with your surgeon?

Zanatdy · 21/11/2022 18:47

I’ve been thinking of neck surgery / Botox or anything since using video calls more. It’s not as bad since I gained some weight back, lost 24lbs in lockdown 1 & 2 which made the skin looser and baggy. Not sure I can face a surgery having had a few for medical reasons. Anyone got any decent neck lotion recommendations?

SingingSands · 21/11/2022 18:51

@Nosejobent glad you went for it! I've spent most of my life since age 12 wanting a nose job but never gone through with it!

AllTheSunshine · 21/11/2022 18:51

I've read that having a dramatic haircut and or recolour is the way to go as it distracts people from your 'new nose'. 😊

whumpthereitis · 21/11/2022 18:55

Congrats! Glad to read you went for it. Never understood why you should have to learn to live with something you dislike when it’s within your power to change it. Sod that.

name985 · 21/11/2022 18:57

Hope recovery goes well!

I posted on this thread last year ... had nose done over a year ago now. No regrets!

It amazed me how many people didn't notice.

dhalia · 21/11/2022 19:10

@Nosejobent I've only told my husband (obs), daughter and one friend. I've had the splint off and am just taped this week so nobody's seen me yet. Except my mum, who I told I had a bad cold and the tape was to help me breathe. She had no clue! (she's 88 bless her but didn't work it out!). I'm not planning on telling anyone. I won't deny it if they ask but I"m not announcing it to anyone!

Nosejobent · 21/11/2022 22:20

The going rate ranges for the procedures I researched over the last 2 years were between 4-7k. I paid in between!

LOVE the idea of going blonde, black or something else just as dramatic! I’m normally light to medium brown and haven’t changed my hair colour in ages!

dahlia your mum sounds so sweet, I’m going to use a medical excuse for acquaintances who ask…

@zeddybrek,

Hello there, I wanted to ask about a rhinoplasty with Duncan Atherton. I'm due to see him next month. I recently had skin flap surgery on my nose due to basal cell carcinoma (skin cancer) which has left my nose in a different shape...which I'm hoping to improve. Is Duncan a good surgeon? Thanks, Julienom
