What did/does your baby sleep in?

Baby due in May. I'm a stress head. Cant work out what baby should sleep in.
Would a short sleeve body suit, sleep suit and blanket work? I have loads of handmade blankets so thicker ones and folding over for colder weather, thinner ones for warmer weather?

I think it feels too simple. All these different products about.

Posting in aibu for traffic, sorry.

I use a blanket tucked under the cot mattress so it doesn't ride up over his face. At the moment he sleeps in a short sleeved baby grow with a long one over the top and a blanket. He's 7 months.
I tried a gro bag but he hated it.

I thought it was just in America they don't advise blankets anyway.

100% grobags sleep bags etc as soon as they’re able. Cellular blankets (with holes) are fine when they’re teeny tucked in! And advised. Always go with the one more layer than you rule, eg you have pjs and duvet, they need vest pjs and duvet (blanket or sleeping bag.) However, my 2nd dc was born in May this year and it was 30 degrees - so he had a vest or babygrow on and nothing else! May might be cold and need the layers but it might be boiling lol. I’d say a vest, sleepsuit and cellular blanket tucked in under the arms for a usual may born newborn. You’ll be fine to use your initiative when they are here, just have all options on hand 🧡

One of mine slept fine in a normal supermarket baby sleeping bag. The other was constantly jerking her hands and waking herself up. I found the 'love to dream' sleeping bags great, they are snug on the chest so feel like a swaddle, but they are shaped so the hands are up by their face in the position they like to sleep in, and their legs are a bit more free.

Most sleeping bags are washable up to high temperatures so you can always get them second hand from facebook or ebay to try a few out and see what you like before buying new

I've ordered a swaddle bag, someone said they're 0.5 tog but fit earlier, a 1 tog gro bag, a 2.5 tog gro bag, a cellular blanket because the blankets I've been given dont have holes. I've also got a half swaddle thing given that's fleece and wraps over. So prepared for all eventualities and a thermometer. Will print the guide off too.

We swaddled baby initially and then used sleeping bag with baby wearing long-sleeved one-piece underneath xx we used blankets on prams or on lap, in car etc etc...

Enjoy ❤

DS2 was born mid May 2018. It was fucking hot for months. He slept in just a nappy and vest for at least three months when newborn. After that we started gro bags, but I wouldn't buy too much in the smallest sizes til you know if you're in a heatwave or not!
