To think it’s unreasonable not to have a kitchen at work.

Just that really. Where I work ( office/reception) there is no kitchen facilities eg fridge or kettle. I like my job but it’s a massive pain the arse that I can’t make a cup of tea in the morning or put food in a fridge or use microwave something warm.

@Babdoc

It’s incredibly miserly of the workplace not to provide a microwave (£30) kettle (£10) and small fridge (£100) for the staff to use. Is there a staff canteen, OP? Or are you stuck with no catering provision at all? I wouldn’t work anywhere that meant I couldn’t get a cup of tea or keep my sandwiches fresh. As a retired anaesthetist, I can vouch that even operating theatre suites have well equipped staff kitchens!
I worked in the public sector for many years.

The office staff always clubbed together and bought their own kettle, fridge and microwave, it was never provided as we were told it was "not the best use of public money". This is not unusual in the public sector.

Oh and in my last job we had a fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave. We still referred to the area in which these items were located as “the kitchen”

So did we only they wouldn't let us have toasters due to the risk of false fire alarms.
