Today I was scheduled for a zoom interview at 5.30pm. I was told earlier in the day by the recruitment consultant, that i should be getting the link for the zoom call shortly

I waited, and at 4pm i called and explained i still had not got the link etc, i was told 'you still have time, just wait for them to email you, if we told you they will then they will'

5.30 comes, no email.. i waited, and waited till about 5.45 and rung the recruitment consultant - she said 'hes just told me you're a no show, hes been waiting 15 mins for you to come on the call'

I explained how ive been waiting all day for the link, and when i called i was told to just wait. Ive got no link from the manager

She checked and realised she sent him the email with .com instead of .co.uk - and shes very sorry..and 'hopefully he still will interview you'

Long story short, he doesnt want to anymore. Shes rung me to say sorry and that he just doesnt want to interview me

I feel so upset, i was really looking forward to this.

Brilliant, I hope all goes well

AbsitivelyPosolutely · 05/02/2021 10:35

Good luck.

Had the recruiter explained to him?

Comtesse · 05/02/2021 10:37

Nice one - good luck Smile

Moomum123 · 05/02/2021 10:38

Good luck!

Glenchase · 05/02/2021 10:39

I would report her to her manager. She’s brought her agency into disrepute, cost a client a job, wasted the employer’s time, and cost her agency the fee they’d have received if they hired you. Don’t let her get away with it! I’m willing to bet she hasn’t confessed her mistake to the employer and has let them believe you were a no-show to cover her own back. Contact the employer directly to apologise and request another interview, and drop her right in the shit.

Worried830410 · 05/02/2021 10:40

Good luck op. The agent clearly let them think you were at fault. Good for you.

Glenchase · 05/02/2021 10:42

I saw your update about getting another interview - well done. But I still think you need to report the recruiter to her boss and make a complaint, she shouldn’t be allowed to get away scott free.

dontdisturbmenow · 05/02/2021 10:42

That's brilliant well done. And shame the agency.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 05/02/2021 10:43

Brilliant news @Ineedmoney fingers crossed for you! Come back and let us know how it went?

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 05/02/2021 10:43

It sucks, but not a lot you can do.
If you're unlucky enough for it to happen again, at the 4pm response from the agency stage I'd have contacted the employer direct (although might be difficult ATM if everyone working from home) Sad
Hopefully something better will come along. Flowers

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 05/02/2021 10:44

whoops, sorry, shd have read the full thread! Good luck

She made a mistake, people are human. This seems excessive
Oblomov21 · 05/02/2021 10:56

I too think she's bluffed her way out of the mistake. So sorry.

MatildaStoker · 05/02/2021 10:57

Good luck for the interview OP

Oblomov21 · 05/02/2021 10:57

Good for you!

Lovethewater · 05/02/2021 10:58

Well done. Good luck with the interview.

Picktionary · 05/02/2021 10:58

Yay!!! Rooting for you OP! Game face on!

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 05/02/2021 10:59

That’s appalling of the recruitment agency, however, the employee also sounds like a dick.

JackieWeaverHandforthCouncil · 05/02/2021 11:00

employer. Sorry missed update. Good luck.

Hoppinggreen · 05/02/2021 11:01

@Ineedmoney

Hi everyone! I contacted the manager directly and explained the situation. I now have an interview with him at 5pm!! Thank you all so much!
Well done If it’s like my experience they will be impressed with your tenacity and it might help you get the job Best of luck
SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 05/02/2021 11:04

Good for you OP. A wee bit ventured - an opportunity gained!

It is one thing not being chosen, it is another losing a chance because of an error. And given that you have an interview, being denied because of an error and then someone lying and blaming someone else for you not getting the opportunity. Who does that? Sad

Hope all goes well. Flowers

RandomMess · 05/02/2021 11:05

So pleased you are getting an interview!!!

That agency is appalling for not confessing their mistake to them.

Level75 · 05/02/2021 11:05

That's great news! Had the recruitment agent blamed you for the no-show or don't you know?

KingAndQueen · 05/02/2021 11:08

Good luck !

I've had shitty experiences with recruiters of late too; making big asks of me, me (naively) spending a lot of time to impress would be employers and then.. getting ghosted Confused

My mantra now is to ignore recruiters and go it alone, which is what you're now doing.

2BDIs · 05/02/2021 11:27

I am so sorry this has happened. Its awful when you get excited about a job opportunity and through no fault of your own lose out.
If it was I would personally put a complaint in about the recruitment consultant, as their behaviour was unacceptable (telling you to wait and not be impatient) and unprofessional (sending an incorrect email address and not checking her accuracy) but not sure where that would get you. I would bet she hasn't fessed up to her error to her client as she will lose further work from them. She has probably just said you have changed your mind and not let her know.
Could you contact the company directly with your cv explain what has happened and give your correct email address, setting out why you wanted the the job and what you can offer the company
You have nothing to lose if they still say no but at least you've tried of you really want it.
Good luck in your job search.
