When you look into the near future of this current shit show, what do you see? For example, this time next year, where do you think we’ll all be at?

Honestly, no worries😀I did snort at getting it explained imagining some hairy handed mansplaining going on

I had to reread my own post, and I saw what I’d written. Eejit

I feel like this country has been taken over by hypochondriacs, god-complex doctors/scientists and the extremely timid who don't have any ambition in life to do anything other than hide under their bedcovers or who only very rarely venture outside their homes.

I've worked throughout this, since lockdown started, a mixture from going in to my workplace to do essential work and wfh. Yesterday I didn't finish work til 8pm. I then got abuse off a woman on FB telling me to "go and help in a hospital". So many people literally have no idea whats going on in the real world of trying to hold down a career and they seem to have forgotten their is any outside world in a relatively short space of time.

Since lockdown and not being able to go to the beautician I've definitely got hairier, but not quite that bad yet Grin

I do actually agree with your original point, btw!

Hopefully not abandoning climate change initiatives like we did after the 2008 recession 😔

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 03/02/2021 20:42

Yes I find the Tory rancour and misunderstanding of Irish and Scottish politics, culture really provocative and irritating esp priti Patel and Boris

Haven’t been to hairdresser in months I look like Chewbacca

I think that lots of families will suffer loss and hardship, and that life will carry on somehow, as it always does. I think we will set more store in genuinely having fun and belly laughs and striving to achieve our goals and we will be less in thrall to artifice and celebrity and chasing wealth and keeping up with the Joneses.

I think by next winter we might be social distance queuing in rags to buy £20 cabbages...joking hopefully

GlitterInMySoul · 03/02/2021 20:52

Hopefully the restrictions lifted but possible an economic depression of sorts?
This is an interesting read about what the future looks like

www.itv.com/news/2021-02-02/why-it-really-matters-that-the-uk-covid-19-strain-has-already-mutated-to-resemble-the-brazil-and-sa-strains?fbclid=IwAR34TBvFRs4wh9Nv9s9bYEnxGTtZ8wXEkNI-PTOI6sUhjXiDxL-f3cZ7xVs
In other words, lockdown is a mass social experiment and we still don't know whether it would have been more beneficial not to lock down but to allow normal community transmission of this virus. As herd immunity might not have created ideal conditions for mutated, more infectious strains of the virus to spread easily.

To put it another way, lockdowns reward viruses which can mutate to become more infectious. Those strains will then thrive and spread.

I'm disappointed. Clickbait title. I was expecting a picture of something rude disguised as something not rude. I thought you wanted to see how filthy we were.
I thought it was going to be one of those “here’s a photo of me, tell me I’m young-looking” followed by 8,000 breathtakingly rude replies saying “lovely for 50” when the poor woman’s clearly 31.

OP, I think this time next year we’ll be in covid season like we have flu season. Prescriptions will be higher, taxes higher, use of food banks through the roof, massive recession, many more major companies will have gone under, encouragement to use masks and think twice about going in to work when ill – but we’ll be able to have people in our houses and go to the cinema and hug family, and there’ll be a remote-work upheaval that changes the nature of work and the concentration of wealth. Swings and roundabouts.
