Shocked at the state of mine.

Clothes in 3 different sizes, summer and winter shoved together, no organisation (though I always attempt it). I thought I had 3 hoodies. I have 6. So much I've bought in sales and never worn.

I actually feel a bit ashamed I have so much, esp considering ive worn leggings and hoodies for a year.

How do I streamline? How many dresses and tops do you all have/loungewear/work stuff? I need to get my shit together

I have a large suitcase of summer clothes in the loft and a small suitcase of beachwear also in the loft. They are take down in April / May.

I have one full length rail, which is winter dresses, left to right by length. I also have blazers on this rail.
Under this rail is my everyday hand bag.

Other two rails are half height. Top half is tops. Starts at jumpers, dark to light. Long sleeve tops, dark to light. Short sleeve tops, dark to light, vest tops, dark to light.

Bottom rail is skirts, trousers and jeans folded in half on hanger each.
Under this rail is my everyday current boots

I have a small shelf of causal jumpers.
Above this is another shelf of my everyday flat shoes.

Separate wardrobe for smart coats shared with OH.

I have five draws, one pants, split into Lacy and granny. One for bras, again sport and nice.

A draw of sport / leggings / causal t shirts, all rolled and in sections, coloured.

Bottom biggest draw is PJs joggers hoodies.

Under our bed in the ottoman I have summer shoes, heels and summer handbags, small hand bags, basically bags I won't use everyday.

I use all velvet thing hangers which use less space apart from jackets coats and jumpers which are on wooden hangers.

I think I'm very organised when it comes to my clothing now but wasn't always like this. It's taken me 5/10 years to find the right way that works for me. Obviously in summer the winter things go into the loft. Or under the bed.

I have a clothes rail rather than a wardrobe, pretty much everything is hung up on it (don't have any drawers), and is currently ordered as:

Coats
Hoodies
Jumpers (dark to light)
Jeans
"Going out" stuff (a few dresses, tops and skirts).
Gym stuff (tops first, with sports bra on same hanger, then leggings).
Loungewear (matching outfits on one hanger, have 5 of them and resisting the urge to buy more).
Pyjamas (tops first, then bottoms, but mix and match).
Dressing gowns

Then at the bottom have separate plastic boxes for pants, bras, socks vests and leggings.

I lay out outfits for the week on a chair, so I can get dressed for work while I'm half asleep (can wear what I like as get changed into scrubs once there), also ensures I actually get dressed on my days off Blush.

Summer clothes are in vacuum bags.

Drawers and wardrobe full of random shit. I'm amongst the shit are a handful of beautiful garments, summer and winter. I also have drawers full of my dead wife's clothes- she died 6 months ago. I keep waiting to feel the energy motivation and clear headedness to clear her drawers and know what to do with everything.

joystir59 · 30/01/2021 18:22

I can't accept that she will never again need all her stuff, all of her half of our storage space.

WellityWellityWellity · 30/01/2021 18:25

Oh, I'm so sorry @joystir59 Flowers

There is something about a loved one's things after they pass away. Some things seem to hold so much of their personalities.

Since March 2020, I don't need to change clothes until they smell. So most my stuff is very little worn in last year but that's ok because now isn't normal times.

My current job (when allowed in office) doesn't require "office clothes". My old job required office clothes. So I don't want to get rid of them even if they might be rarely worn.

Same with some of my warmest jumpers; only wear them 1-2x/year, but boy do I appreciate them then.

Physical set up is
a built in wardrobe with hangers (4' wide?)
5 x 12" x 12" size box shelves
3 drawers (pants/bras & socks & sport clothes)
jeans in a separate large box
spillover sock storage... people always give me socks!!
shoes are elsewhere...

I try very hard to never buy anything so hope it will all naturally reduce over time.

Mine is new and half the things that were in the wardrobe (built in) in my old house are in the garage, so it contains: a mop, a Hoover, some clean unsorted washing, a large spine support cushion, some tins of paint, clean towels and bedding, a few hanging clothes, a lot of empty space and a very comfy cat (in the washing basket.

Moths that we can’t get rid of Shock

Nice summer dresses that I didn’t get much use of last year, loads of jumpers, loads of leggings. Some fancy dresses that because of Covid and having a toddler I sadly don’t have much use for.

That’s basically it; I hardly have any tops. I wear loads of jumpers and the same 3 tops in rotation underneath them. Have a bit of office wear but no need for it now with WFH/Covid.

I need to do something else I’ll spend all of my 30s in jumpers and leggings. I’d like more stylish options but buying clothes always feels indulgent and wasteful - and it would just get full of the bloody moths!!

Londonmummy66 · 30/01/2021 20:46

I have a 9 drawer chest of drawers which helps so drawers for:

undies,
Tshirts (black and white only)
Jumpers (black and navy only)
Cardigans (grey black and navy)
Vest tops (black and white)
Socks and tights
Hoodies and sports tops
Leggings and swimwear
PJs

Then I have a long hanging and a short hanging wardrobe

Long hanging has long skirts, Jeans, long dresses and evening clothes with handbags in drawers under the skirts.
Short hanging has jackets (black, and navy) and blouses (black white and navy) on the top rail and short skirts and culottes (black, grey navy and red) on the bottom rail plus hanging shoe storage for evening shoes and summer sandals.
Wardrobe doors have hooks and rails to hold scarves, shapewear and other accessories etc.

The rest of my life is chaotic but at least I can roll out of bed and get dressed without too much thought!

TrimmedMyBush · 30/01/2021 21:07

Floordrobe. I have a strange relationship with clothes and have zero motivation to sort them out. Strange as I am very motivation in other areas and have organized kitchen, bathroom, dressing table etc.
