Shocked at the state of mine.

Clothes in 3 different sizes, summer and winter shoved together, no organisation (though I always attempt it). I thought I had 3 hoodies. I have 6. So much I've bought in sales and never worn.

I actually feel a bit ashamed I have so much, esp considering ive worn leggings and hoodies for a year.

How do I streamline? How many dresses and tops do you all have/loungewear/work stuff? I need to get my shit together

Organised in a row; dresses, trousers, hoodies, jumpers, skirts. But I only have 2-3 of each. Underwear in IKEA drawer organisers on wardrobe floor. Tops in chest of drawers.

Have no need for summer/winter separation becuase my seasonal change is pretty much adding or removing a jumper and that's all. Actual holiday wear of beach towels and bikinis is in the loft with suitcases.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 30/01/2021 14:25

I have a lot of stuff! In winter it follows more of a theme - mainly jeans and cashmere jumpers, in black, grey and shades of blue and green. Little bit of pink, red and purple too.

Summer is much more of a mish-mash of jeans, dresses (in a variety of styles and fabrics), trousers, tops and T-shirts, in pretty much every colour imaginable.

The only I almost never wear is skirts. I own a few, but the only one that gets worn much is a sari silk wraparound that's perfect for very hot weather, and fits me no matter what size I am! 😆

CSIblonde · 30/01/2021 14:27

All mixed in together, mostly classics not ultra fashion stuff. Couple of posh dresses, lots of smart fitted button up cardigans to wear over camisole tops. Smart work trousers X 3. A few t-shirts & leggings for slobbing. Few pairs of tight jeans. I was really into clothes years ago, but I just don't feel that interested any more. I spend my money on decor & books now . I don't go anywhere posh that merits really dressing up, thankfully!

Chloemol · 30/01/2021 14:27

Mine was organised again last year, tend to do it annually and have a clear out. I found changing coat hangers to velvet covered thin ones from Amazon has helped, far more space now the coat hangers are all the same rather than the hotpotch thick and thin ones I had before

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 30/01/2021 14:40

I switch over in summer/winter. Currently mine is:

L-R

Knitwear (grouped by colour)
Dresses
Trousers

Lower shelf

Skirts
Jeans

Bottom

Shoes/boots

T-shirts, loungewear are in a chest of drawers, plus socks/tights and underwear

About May the jumpers will be vacuum packed, although cardis will stay, and summer dresses and blouses will come in. (Those are currently vacuum packed on the top shelf)

Lucieintheskye · 30/01/2021 15:48

Everything I own is either black, white, cream, dark green or burgundy and most of it goes with anything. I have everything sorted into warm and cold weather clothing. 60% smart casual, 30% casual and 10% too fancy for rona times. All good quality fabrics that won't get chucked out after 3 washes. I keep a good stock of essentials- t shirts, strappy tops, leggings etc but I mainly live in DH's hoodies atm.

I am an absolute whore for a good jumper though so they've taken over my wardrobe. They usually take up half the under bed storage.

CoRhona · 30/01/2021 15:55

I have just bought some thinner hangers so my stuff doesn't look as crammed Blush

dudsville · 30/01/2021 16:01

I do a clear out and reorganise once every 3 ish months or so.

I only have 2 items that aren't in good condition - you know the thing you just love wearing when you're home alone!

I used to do seasonal swap overs but I have finally got my clothing hoard down to what fits in the space I have.

The only rule I really ignore is the one about only keeping thing that fit. In the top of my wardrobe I have plenty of space to store the clothes that I love, are timeless and in good condition but that I can no longer wear because I gained weight in 2019. I don't need the pace for anything else and if I can lose a stone then I can wear them again. I also have a bathing suit that I will probably never wear again, but it suits me and I hated so much trying to find a suit to begin with- I do not want to go through that again.

dudsville · 30/01/2021 16:05

I just realised that only last week I pulled out all my lovely blouses that haven't been worn in a year and washed and pressed them freshly. I might take to wearing blouses under jumpers for my video calls! I have a LOT of free time.

user1471538283 · 30/01/2021 16:08

I'm such a clothes horse but a combination of lockdown and moving forces me to get rid of stuff I hadn't worn for years or could not fit into. The wardrobe I used to have filled an entire wall and was brilliant. I now just have a small one for the time being with my favourite coat, jumpers and shoes in it. I have a suitcase and boxes with my summer stuff and going out out clothes.

I like many people wear the same yoga pants and tops all the time but I'm trying to wear blue jeans or a casual dress/skirt once a week!

sapnupuas · 30/01/2021 16:09

Fuck knows. I've been living in the leggings and black or grey tops for almost a year now 🤣

ghostyslovesheets · 30/01/2021 16:14

quiet well organised

work clothes in one bit - dresses, trousers, shirts, jackets

winter clothes in the bigger bit - sorted by party wear (hahaha like that's getting worn!), jeans/trousers, shirts, t shirts and jumpers/hoodies

shoes underneath

long dresses hung up elsewhere as wardrobe has selves which make it too short - summer stuff stored away

Tigerstripe20 · 30/01/2021 16:28

Office trousers are now relegated to a storage box in the wardrobe
Summer clothes clean and pressed in a storage box under the bed
Scarves and woolly hats and gloves stored Marie Kondo style in a box under the bed
I have lost three stone ( I needed to !)and all my nice didn't fit clothes now fit again
Just sorted through all my socks, undies etc and had a chuck out as they really were embarrassing.

OP unless your stuff is very out of date , ripped and or seriously out of shape, try and find a selling site that suits you and offload some stuff.
Take it a drawer or cupboard at a time so you don't get overwhelmed.
So much stuff has gone to landfill in the last year as everyone has been decluttering .

Thingsdogetbetter · 30/01/2021 16:35

Only colours I have are leopard print, black, red and silver and strangely one solitary light blue dress with skulls and roses.

A third jeans and hoodies, a third work clothes and a third sequins and 50s style party dresses that I rarely wear even in normal times.

kennypppppppp · 30/01/2021 16:40

alternates between looking like a channel 5 nightmare, to a place of inner poise and allure (rarely)

i like to pretend i'm organised and efficient and can use the words capsule, key pieces, co-ords, on trend, on pointe at a moments notice. it never happens.

CakeRequired · 30/01/2021 16:49

It's a disaster. So many clothes that don't fit, drawers stuffed with t shirts, clothes I've never worn, boots I never wear, and an entire wardrobe just for sports clothes (it's a small wardrobe but still).

I will do a clear out this year, I will!

Riimpi · 30/01/2021 16:51

Basically lots of holey tracksuits, hoodies and tshirts from pre 2010 all too big as I've lost weight since then Grin very fashionable Wink

ginghamtablecloths · 30/01/2021 16:52

If nowt else, it's colour co-ordinated. I have two double wardrobes, one of which contains blue/grey clothes and the other brown/cream. Items hang sideways so no need to arrange each season. There are hanging shelves in each which contain t-shirts, long sleeved on top and short sleeved below. I admit I sling underwear in (bras folded inside pants) and have short socks on the right, long on the left.

Each morning I alternate whatever colour I'm wearing and chuck tops on the ottoman with matching items automatically gathered so it doesn't take long to get dressed. I'm not as organised as that sounds though, I, ahem, have the chair on which I sling jeggings. During lockdown unless I'm going out I wear the same old supermarket tracksuit with clean undies. Organised? Fairly (but not if you spy the ignored ironing in the spare room) Elegant? Sometimes. Fashionable? Never. Economical? Mostly, as I don't buy new things unless it co-ordinates with what I already have. I splash out on something if I think it's irresistible.

epythymy · 30/01/2021 16:55

Clothes I don't currently wear due to lockdown 🥲

WellityWellityWellity · 30/01/2021 16:59

I'm fairly organised with my wardrobe and have a spreadsheet on my laptop which inventories it all🤓.

Mine is, from left to right:

Jeans
Skirts
Dresses
Tops
Jumpers
Jackets

I tend to put things away at the end of summer / winter, so that I don't have too much in there at once and I'm not sifting through jumpers trying to find a pair of shorts in summer or whatever.

I try not to have more than 40 things in my actual wardrobe at any time.

Lillyhatesjaz · 30/01/2021 17:17

My wardrobe is quite small so I pack summer clothes away. I have some really nice tops, trousers and skirts but I have been living in my gym clothes since lock down. I sort my wardrobe by type I love colour and patterns and sometimes buy things that don't go but most things go with jeans and I have black tops to go with coloured bottoms
I had several pairs of trousers that hadn't fit for a few years and this year when I finally lost enough weight to get into them I realised they were really old fashioned and I didn't want to wear them anyway so they have gone in the clothes recycling bin,I wished I had got rid of them earlier as they took up space.
I have quite a lot of clothes but don't buy very many, I am still wearing some things I have had for 20 years.

NotFabulousDarling · 30/01/2021 17:30

I've been living out of a suitcase for about 4 years, now, and hopefully will imminently get my wardrobe back. Mine is a 1920s Compactum which has labels (bakelite ones) for each little compartment, a section for hanging trousers, a hanging rail that slides out for dresses, even a spot for hats! Although I put lingerie in the "handkerchiefs" drawer bahaha. Very highly recommend something like this (or recreate something at home with modern furniture) if you're struggling to organize, then you just have to never let it get past full.

The minute you find somewhere else to put your clothes, you've lost. Don't buy more stuff than fits in your wardrobe. You can't shop your way out of an organization problem (I wish you could haha), and capsule wardrobes only work if you're committed to chucking all your other stuff out and being really rigid at not buying anything else. Having the right furniture really makes a difference for organizing clothes.

MissingLinker · 30/01/2021 17:35

I have a small wardrobe with two draws at the bottom.
In the wardrobe, I have:
Work clothes ( 2x smart trousers, Blazer, 3x Shirts)
2 Dresses
1 Skirt
2 more shirts
One bag of socks and tights
One bag of underwear (the bags are on hangers, I'm not an animal).

I then keep one draw for 2 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of shorts, 1 pair of Capri pants, 1 pair of jogging bottoms.

And the other draw fora couple of t shirts, jumpers, cardigan.

Apart from that, I keep running clothes in a bag in the hall. Have a dressing gown hung up somewhere. 1 anorak. 1 nice coat.

Shoes: 1 smart pair for work. 1 pair of doc martens boots. One pair of trainers (with running kit). 1 pair walking boots (somewhere?)

MissingLinker · 30/01/2021 17:38

*two drawers, that should be.
(Oh grievous sin of MN).

GooodMythicalMorning · 30/01/2021 17:49

hoodys and leggings that are almost destroyed. no point finding other stuff right now.
