According to DP "most people" have eaten dinner by 6pm.

Referring to adults, not children.

He's obsessed with eating at a time I consider pretty early.

I'm giving him the side eye Hmm

I've loved all round the UK. It's regional and class based.

FuckOffBorisYouTwat · 27/01/2021 19:42

I mean lived around the UK. Though to be fair also loved!

Rockettrain · 27/01/2021 19:42

Oh and yes to supper if you’re hungry later. Toast, crumpet, tea cake, weetabix or porridge.

Janonomouse · 27/01/2021 19:42

I'd say our average is around 7:30 - 8. We generally get home from work after 6.

Glitterblue · 27/01/2021 19:43

We've just finished ours. My parents eat at 5 and my mum is always nagging me because she reckons we eat too late. We never used to eat that early when we were little, it was more like 6-6.30. They used to say, only a couple of years ago, that they couldn't eat as early as 5, when my sister and her family came to stay with them and liked to eat at 5.

BogRollBOGOF · 27/01/2021 19:43

When I worked, no one was in the house before 6:10. We eat at about 8.
Normally the DCs will have a light tea after school then a late dinner.

pigsDOfly · 27/01/2021 19:43

The only adults I know who have eaten dinner by 6 is my DD and her DH but they have a young family and they all eat together.

I never eat dinner before 8, often around 8.30. And for the information of the pp who claimed that only old people eat dinner early I'm 72.

I go to bed around midnight so I'd be starving by bedtime if I ate any earlier.

Staffy1 · 27/01/2021 19:44

Ours is usually somewhere 7:30 and 8:30.

OrigamiOwl · 27/01/2021 19:45

I probably wouldn't have even started making dinner by 6pm!

Hardbackwriter · 27/01/2021 19:45

We eat at 6 so that DS (2.5) can eat with us - I've got used to it now but it still makes me feel like a bit of child to eat so early. Before him and in my ideal world we'd eat at around 8.

TriciaMcMillan · 27/01/2021 19:45

@ShirleyPhallus right, telling DH to push it back, I want posher mealtimes!

Ticklemynickel · 27/01/2021 19:46

Between 8-9pm. I'm starving by bedtime if I eat early.

WetSausageRoll · 27/01/2021 19:46

We eat around 5.30-6ish. Always have done, even pre child. We get hungry Confused

BerniesMittens · 27/01/2021 19:46

We have dinner at 7:30-8pm depending on my timings on what I'm cooking! If I ate before 6pm I’d be having cheese on toast by 10pm!

Mind you, breakfast at 10am, lunch 1:30pm/2pm... We’re late risers so it knocks everything back. Grin

Livpool · 27/01/2021 19:47

We eat between half 5 and 6 usually

HunterHearstHelmsley · 27/01/2021 19:47

I eat my main meal at lunch time. Feels a bit gluttonous to have it late! I have a small (lunch sized) meal at around 430/5 so I can exercise afterwards and get showered etc. And still have an evening after.

Nopreservatives · 27/01/2021 19:48

No, but I actually think this is part of the obesity problem.

My gran would have had dinner on the table when Grandad got home c. 5pm in the days when everyone worked locally and that would be it then until the cooked breakfast, so although they didn't realise it, a large proportion of the population were fasting for about 14 hours.

During lockdown we've eaten earlier and I have stopped evening snacks and the weight has come off so easily, compared to anything else I've tried over several decades.

Ninkanink · 27/01/2021 19:48

No. Many adults eat somewhere between 7 and 8, or even 8 and 9.

SweetPetrichor · 27/01/2021 19:48

We eat around 6pm. Basically, we start when cooking straight after work. I wouldn’t want to eat later cause then I’d be going to bed full of food.

E1ffelTower · 27/01/2021 19:48

4.30-6.30 depending upon what time dance class is. We are in bed by 8.30-9pm though. Single parent, 9&12 year old children.

NameChange84 · 27/01/2021 19:49

Some of us are still working at 7pm!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 27/01/2021 19:49

When I was growing up we always had dinner at 6pm. Dad was diabetic so we always eat at the same time.
Now I eat about 7.

Tal45 · 27/01/2021 19:49

6:30 - 7pm here

Cairnterrorist · 27/01/2021 19:49

When my kids were young dinner was no later than 5.30.

When I had a long commute dinner was at 7.

Now it’s at around 6.30.

ewwlynxafrica · 27/01/2021 19:50

Between 5.30-6pm here.
