Totally inspired by the www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3905995-Best-CF-Stories thread, I would love to see how you put those CFs in their place!

If a CF tries to take the piss and there's no one around to allow it, are they still a CF?

Lockheart · 25/01/2021 18:04

Obvious fishing for article fodder.

@Lockheart

Obvious fishing for article fodder.
Totally not a journo, been here a long time. Just love the CF stories, but so often the CF gets away with it, and I want to hear/read some satisfying put downs

I can't think of one but I definitely want to follow

BonnieDundee · 25/01/2021 19:20

I'm here to get ideas for the next time someone tries to CF me Grin

I used to go a lot of car boot sales and loads of CF wanted to pay pennies for expensive items like bikes, electronics etc.
I would loudly tell them “no one is forcing you to by it, but if you want to buy it it is cuz’
If they still haggled I’d repeat, but louder.
Most paid the asking price.

Xyz not cuz

My ex once saw someone throw litter out of a car when he was walking. When they stopped at the lights he walked up to the car, motioned to wind the window down like he had something important to say, and threw their trash into the car with a friendly "i think you dropped this".

People with good boundaries tend to head fledgling CF-ery off at the pass, often without realising it. "Can you..." "Oh I am busy, sorry I can't". Many of the CF tales are often following a prolonged period of ramping up minor CF-ery that escalates over time into eye watering WTF levels of cheek. Most of them are not first 'offenses', and when asked about the friendship the poster will be like 'oh yes, they've got form'.

The best defense to CF-ery is not to accept yourself being treated in a way you yourself wouldn't treat a friend. And also a certain amount of not being gobsmacked into saying nothing. The number of stories where people don't say a word to the CF because THEY don't want to appear rude is depressing!

For a lot of posts here, I can feel anger with how are you soo bloody wet! just tell them

Just don’t be scared to call it out. I normally do it in an overly nice way (at first). Most people are counting on you not saying anything at all, e.g pretty sure it’s your turn for a round, the queue is over there, etc. Just be blunt it’s not that hard!

I agree with Nora but would add that many CFs can smell their victims - the polite ones, the ones that are too embarrassed to make a fuss. I used to be one of those victims. Now I am quite a lot ruder as a direct result of pisstakers. I feel no guilt - I’ve had my fill of pisstakers.

I did this recently. God it felt good. The chap responded by calling me a cunt. That felt even better.
