First world problem but I'm so annoyed! DH is a pig

Lighthearted but still annoying.

DH found a stash of snacks (mainly crisps) and I told him he can have one pack as the rest are for our day out to the water park.
Well I am packing everything as the park is tomorrow and he just informed me that he ate more than one packet. Just checked and In actual fact he ate everything!!!!

He is in supermarket right now replacing it but jeez such piggy behaviour!

AIBU to find another hiding spot and never ever tell him!

Frankly, well done for starting a thread that isn't entirely focussed on coronavirus.

burnoutbabe · 25/01/2021 11:25

its all annoying wirfe work

You set stuff aside for a day out so that is sorted, you then have to check that its still there each day, and when find its gone, send out husband to buy more. too much brain power needed!

LindaEllen · 25/01/2021 11:27

@Cairnterrorist

You sound controlling. He’s away to replace them what’s the big deal?
It's not controlling! The crisps had been for a picnic. If they were just in with the rest of the snacks I'm sure OP wouldn't have limited the amount, but they were for a purpose. Would you call someone controlling if they wouldn't let their husband eat the turkey 3 days before Christmas?
SmileyClare · 25/01/2021 11:34

Isn't it a bit late for a day out? It must be late afternoon, evening in Oz now.

nolongersurprised · 25/01/2021 11:34

I went to Oz at this time of year once - never again. The heat is unbearable

It’s a much milder summer (so far) where we live in Australia. Hot enough yesterday that when the children were doing nippers on the weekend I needed a swim by 930 and all the washing on the line dried in an hour Smile but it’s quite cool now. In fact, it’s only 23 degrees (night time) and it’s been drizzly and my DD is wearing a dressing gown. DH is wearing PJs with long sleeves.

wildraisins · 25/01/2021 11:35

Wow, a day out at a water park seems like a world away!

Who cares about crisps? Enjoy your liberties.

LemonSwan · 25/01/2021 11:35

Half this thread have obviously never lived with a walking dustbin.

It is not controlling to be pissed off that the other half has cleaned out a whole cupboard in less than a day.

I feel your pain OP!

Becles · 25/01/2021 11:36

@AudTheDeepAndCrispAndEven

I'm going to go against the grain here as I understand that you are NOT trying to control his food intake but in fact trying to do the 'wife work' of ensuring there is enough food for a specific purpose. I'm sure if he had gone and bought himself a family pack of crisps you would have been happy to let him crack on. What has actually happened is that he has helped himself to all the food that you have already a purpose for and if you had not done the thinking of telling him to replace them would not have had second thoughts about it! You had allotted the crisps so that you knew what there was for the picnic and that you wouldn't have to do any more sorting out to ensure there was enough. He's a thoughtless, selfish git!
This.

YANBU OP. You clearly stated they were bought a specific purpose and were coordinating a family trip.

He was adult enough to eat everything meant for the family, but not mature enough to think about replacing them until you pointed out the impact on the rest of the family. Even though he was the selfish unthinking one, you still get to be painted as the whining nag.

Iknowwhatudidlastsummer · 25/01/2021 11:36

good grief, what is wrong with posters today? I think you mentioned a DH, lovely weather and waterpark, people cannot cope with someone not being as miserable as they are
😂

Of course YANBU. An adult should be able not to stuff himself, and it's inconsiderate to ignore your request. If you specifically tell someone you keep something for a good reason, why just going for it anyway?

Fair enough to eat food, but not the one thing they know you need!

Oysterbabe · 25/01/2021 11:37

I'm surprised at a lot of the responses here. She wasn't policing how much he can eat, she asked not to eat some specific food bought for a particular event. I'm sure he could have eaten other food or bought some other crisps to eat. I'd have been annoyed too.

nolongersurprised · 25/01/2021 11:37

After 9 30pm in my state. No one is at a water park now! Maybe the OP was backdating her frustration

OP is packing the stuff for tomorrow

icedgem85 · 25/01/2021 11:39

I don't get it. If he ate them and refused to replace them, I'd be pissed. But he's at the shop so there's literally no problem, is there?

Backdating? OP hasn't been yet!

nolongersurprised · 25/01/2021 11:39

Actually, just read the OP, she is packing tonight for tomorrow. That makes more sense and she’s very organised

VegemiteIsToasty · 25/01/2021 11:40

We don’t call them crisps, they are CHIPS. OP noooooo! CHIPS!

And hot chips if they are hot but as you describe hiding packets they are clearly just chips. I don’t know anyone who’d hide hot chip chips.

Whitecup4 · 25/01/2021 11:40

Yabu mentioning it’s hot and your out to the water park.

Sad
Cuntitinthebin · 25/01/2021 11:43

Some of these responses 🤣🤣

My husband is like this with chocolate. We have separate stashes otherwise he'd eat all mine!

Cuntitinthebin · 25/01/2021 11:45

Although, you can totally piss off with your hot weather, and your water park, and your restriction-free life!

I hope it rains.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 25/01/2021 11:47

In Australia
No I’m not jealous at all Envy

Nor me. I love slithering through slushy snow Envy Envy

Mylittlesandwich · 25/01/2021 11:48

Totally missing the point of the thread and now daydreaming about days out in the warm.

Disfordarkchocolate · 25/01/2021 11:48

No sympathy as I'm too jealous or warm weather and a water park.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 25/01/2021 11:52

But ooops, remembering Ozzie friends’ near-misses with fires and floods last year — have a great day out, PonyPals.
Just watch out for the crocodiles. Grin

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 25/01/2021 11:54

Water park , hot weather Envy it’s the stuff dreams are made of at the moment ! Forget about the crisps!

C152 · 25/01/2021 11:59

Lol. No, you would not be unreasonable at all to find another hiding spot!
