I can’t sleep and I’m watching a tv show on really unique delicacies across the world.

It’s got me thinking, what is the most crazy thing you’ve ever eaten?

(I feel like it’s the last day of the 6 weeks holidays and I’m up watching odd stuff all night!)

Crocodile - tastes chickeny.

Puffin - not good as a starter but marinaded as a main course, very nice.

BritWifeinUSA · 25/01/2021 00:42

A deep-fried tarantula. Horrible. The legs crunched as I bit into them.

Callcat · 25/01/2021 00:49

Play-doh. Doesn't taste like it used to though!

JingsMahBucket · 25/01/2021 00:56

Bull penis. And yes, even after it was cooked there was still semen in it.

Stompythedinosaur · 25/01/2021 01:13

Durian fruit fritters. I cannot express how repulsive they smelt, but had been made as a gift for me so I had to eat them.

Needhelp101 · 25/01/2021 01:19

Crocodile. It was grim.

EKGEMS · 25/01/2021 01:20

BBQ bison

Longdistance · 25/01/2021 01:24

I was coming in to say soft shell crab. It was bloody delicious. I had crocodile, it wasn’t great.

My dgm used to cook everything of a chicken. Occasionally I’d get a clawed foot. I’d see it’s head with beak and the poor buggers eyes closed.

TheGlitterFairy · 25/01/2021 01:26

Crocodile (Thailand)
Bull frog (China)
Duck bones (China)
Whale (Norway)
Jellyfish (Thailand)

Duck tongues were served at the same place as the jellyfish though couldn’t bring myself to try them. Literally all lined up on a platter. As PP said, mostly on work trips when we did such a thing!

KilljoysDutch · 25/01/2021 01:28

Ostrich
Crocodile
Buffalo
Kangaroo
Mealworms (in a burger and just dried ones from my rats treats)

jessym · 25/01/2021 01:48

Crocodile. It’s a bit odd, like a hybrid of chicken & fresh tuna. I enjoyed eating it, but at the time I was worried that I was scoffing an endangered species.

That is not the case. Crocodiles &alligators are sustainably farmed for their skins which are made into high-end leathers and the meat is a by-product. The reverse of beef cattle, in fact.

Prianiki · 25/01/2021 03:08

Fried chicken feet and lamb brain. Not too crazy really... though I felt very adventurous when I tried them. Both were quite good.

OldGreyBoots · 25/01/2021 04:28

Alligator, I'd definitely order again!

blubberball · 25/01/2021 05:37

My own placenta. Made it into a pate following a chicken liver pate recipe. I only tried a tiny bit, and threw the rest away. It was my ex's idea.

Tobebythesea · 25/01/2021 06:01

I’ve tried:

Frog’s legs
Chicken’s feet - horrible
Snake
Kangaroo
Ostrich
A type of glowworm thing - revolting

MariaAngustias · 25/01/2021 06:02

DH ate cuy which is guinea pig in Ecuador. Worst thing was there was a large cage with the guinea pigs happily snuggling.., unaware of their imminent fate. I tried durian fruit in Thailand and it was the most vile thing I ever tasted - like rotting flesh soaked in nail varnish remover, felt sick all day. I tried a dog biscuits once as a dare, it was ok

JohnRokesmith · 25/01/2021 06:07

@Stompythedinosaur

I once had a durian ice lolly. It tasted much like what I imagine a rotten onion frozen in a milky syrup would taste like.

In Thailand, I once had a green bean and corn ice lolly. It wasn’t unpleasant, just a bit strange.

HagenDaz · 25/01/2021 08:58

I ate the OP which is why they haven’t come back.

Icancelledthecheque · 25/01/2021 09:02

Crocodile
Ostrich

My dad was in China and as their guest of honour had to watch the family cut a snakes head off, drain it’s blood and feed it to him.

Vile

GrannyBags · 25/01/2021 09:08

Piranha. It was cooked whole and I was fascinated by its teeth.
I also had catfish on the same trip - I like fish but that tasted muddy

Backtoreality1 · 25/01/2021 09:13

Duck tongues (taste like liver - bleeurgh) and chicken feet. Both in China. The colleague I go to visit tries me with different things each time I visit....I drew the line at sharks fin soup.

bellver888 · 25/01/2021 09:16

@HagenDaz 😂😂😂😂😂

Sea cucumber
Alligator
Snake
Frogs legs

Ylfa · 25/01/2021 09:21

This thread is such a great appetite suppressant. I’m not very adventurous with food but the most horrible things I’ve eaten:

Chitterlings, creamed beef (for breakfast, ground beef cooked in milk), sea urchins

I like to give myself a tummy ache sometimes just imagining the horrible stuff some of my ancestors must have lived on

Chopbob · 25/01/2021 09:29

Duck tongues at a chinese restaurant in UK- they tasted really good but it blew my mind they have a bone in them!
Also a Malaysian dessert that was made from wood pulp when on honeymoon in Malaysia. Its tasted like wood pulp 🤮
