Colleague won’t supervise classes

I work in a primary school . One of the teachers won’t come in to supervise key workers’ children. Most of the staff are in one day a week atm with smt being in 2 days .
The teacher in question thinks they had covid last Easter. There is no record of a positive test This colleague has mentioned that their gp has recommended they “work from home if possible”.
as they felt a little tired over the Christmas break . Aibu to think that they are taking the piss?
Colleague has form for taking off with the slightest sniffle .

The only one taking the piss is you

mineofuselessinformation · 24/01/2021 22:16

Well, you can't educate stupid....

NovemberR · 24/01/2021 22:17

Have reported as hairy handed.

@ConsuelaHammock

He’s not sick if he’s in sometimes. When n it suits him ! I was actually less bothered about this before I posted than I am now . I guess the public sector is full of people like my colleague . I shall continue to do my job and go in when I’m needed . I just don’t think someone should be allowed to just decide they don’t want to do their job because of fear of covid. If they don’t want to work they should take unpaid leave. What would happen if all the doctors and nurses suddenly developed anxiety about catching covid . It’s a joke !
He can have anxiety , documented by his GP. He could be fully signed off, or the head could've decided working from home and doing a non contact task when he is in is a reasonable adjustment.

You seem to think that not only do you know the full history of this man, you're also smarter and better positioned than the head to judge exactly what is going on .

Again, if you have such little faith in your head to make a reasonable and justified judgment call then you need to find a new school.

MissMarpleDarling · 24/01/2021 22:18

I told my boss I'd obviously prefer to work from home and they said I can work from home ONE day a week. So still 4 days going in. So I think they are taking the piss.

A man you know nothing about is taking the piss because his boss has a different approach to his situation, that you know nothing about, to your boss’s approach to you?

How fucking bizarre.

ConsuelaHammock · 24/01/2021 22:20

I’m taking the piss? because I’m going to work and doing my job to the best of my ability under the circumstances?
Mine - you really are unpleasant !

Op go dr and get signed off.

mineofuselessinformation · 24/01/2021 22:21

Am I?
I've given reasoned responses to your posts. You haven't replied to any of them.

MissMarpleDarling · 24/01/2021 22:21

Not you OP! Your colleague!

You’re taking the piss because you are acting like you know all about someone’s personal situation and know better than your HT and despite a thread full of people pointing it out to you, your ego is still insisting you know better. A judgemental piss taker.
ConsuelaHammock · 24/01/2021 22:22

And yet most people agree that I’m not being unreasonable 🤔

And at my school you would be in 5 days because everyone is. So now I think you're taking the piss, since my boss wouldn't agree to what your boss agreed.
ConsuelaHammock · 24/01/2021 22:25

You’ve obviously never worked with piss takers then . Do you need to see someone’s medical notes to realise they are shirkers ?
Mine - you do realise I don’t have to reply to you. You’re not saying anything new !

OP posts:
lyralalala · 24/01/2021 22:26

More assumptions Hmm

mineofuselessinformation · 24/01/2021 22:26

No, but then you haven't replied to any of them in the first place?

ConsuelaHammock · 24/01/2021 22:28

Mine - time to let it go then ?

So your colleague is a shirker .

Your head is too stupid to realise.

Whomever manages your colleague is also too stupid to their job and ensure he's off for a reason.

Your other colleagues are also stupid, because despite him having form it's only now they've started moaning about him.

Only you know the situation accurately and precisely and have the intelligence to see through his lies.

ConsuelaHammock · 24/01/2021 22:29

Assumptions ? That some people are piss takers ?

OP posts:
NovemberR · 24/01/2021 22:29

Don't feed it, people..

mineofuselessinformation · 24/01/2021 22:31

Oh, no.
Seeing someone running down teachers is exactly the thing that keeps me posting on here....
And for the record, MNHQ are the people who adjudicate who posts what on here...

lyralalala · 24/01/2021 22:31

Exactly @AccidentallyOnPurpose

Only the Op can see it. Everyone else is too thick and/or lazy.

Backbee · 24/01/2021 22:31

Do you need to see someone’s medical notes to realise they are shirkers ?

Or perhaps someone's medical history is none of your fucking business. Perhaps his partner at home is vulnerable, or one of his children. You do seem to know a lot about him so I am guessing your odd fascination with details of his life would know that though. Unless you are suggesting that the HT is completely inept at their job and totally spineless, then suffice to say that they must be content that it is acceptable for them to not supervise classes.

NiceTwin · 24/01/2021 22:31

I am in school daily. I don't mind being in, I am working alone and avoid anybody I don't need to speak to.

What fucks me off is teachers who come in, not on the rota, to be seen.
Like sitting in the classroom doing Team lessons is any better than doing it from home.

For a profession that you would think are bright there are some who are incredibly stupid. They can't understand the STAY AT HOME, ONLY TRAVEL IF NECESSARY messages that are everywhere.
