That sertraline makes me realise how mental I've been for the last decade (at least)

Honestly never felt better, well maybe pre-18 years old.

Amazing stuff and I don't feel like I'm 'on' something.

I fucking love it.

Oh now I'm tempted.

I always worried it would make me feel "dull" inside. I used to be so vibrant and full of life, now I'm just a boring tired mum constantly on the verge of tears.

Lwg87 · 22/01/2021 17:05

Same here. It's a bit sad how much I've missed out on without realising there was something to help

I was worried about that. But actually I'm able to laugh again, I fancy my husband again, I'm generally just more myself.

You can't lose from trying!

The first few days are a bit weird but didn't bother me.

Shhhhhhh!! If the secret gets out, everyone will want our special secret magic pills 🤐🤫😉

Snooks1971 · 22/01/2021 17:09

I totally agree too! They have made me ‘myself’ again.

nanbread · 22/01/2021 17:16

Can I ask...

How hard was it to get it?

What were your "symptoms" before you took it?

MrsOrMiss · 22/01/2021 17:16

I felt the same after a couple of months. I had gone through life believing most people felt the way I did - anxious, overthinking, miserable - it was huge relief to feel 'normal', and all down to a little pill.

LimitIsUp · 22/01/2021 17:18

My dd felt like a zombie on sertraline- no anxiety, but no joy either. She's good on citalopram. It's funny how different medications suit different people.

vampirethriller · 22/01/2021 17:22

Me too. I should have been on it years and years ago, I think my life would have been very different.

I'm really encouraged by this thread - so thank you to everyone who's commented. I've got a box I'm just about to start and had been worrying about it

lubeybooby · 22/01/2021 17:27

Im not planning on coming off of sertraline-well not for a very long time<img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Shock" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/shock-7MJQdU1X.png"><img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Grin" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/grin-D7Eg_B6y.png"> It really does the trick, have tried coming off of it 3-4 times over the last 10-15 years & I go straight back to where I was before taking them<img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Sad" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/sad-q5SIe0Cq.png"><img loading="lazy" class="inline-flex mumsnet-emoji" alt="Sad" src="https://www.mumsnet.com/build/assets/sad-q5SIe0Cq.png"> I love being able to lead a normal life, dont get me wrong, I still have the normal ups & downs but that is normal life. I call them my happy pillsGrinGrin

RefuseTheLies · 22/01/2021 17:30

Same. It saved my life when my mum died. But I realised that I should've been on it long before that happened. I had constant, low level depression going right back to my teenage years (in my 40s now). Sertraline would have made such a difference to my quality of life.

glassecase · 22/01/2021 17:31

History of anxiety, then ivf following a traumatic birth (conceived naturally the first time but problems during the birth has probably caused issues) and then miscarriage.

Ive just been prescribed it this week so cant comment on the effects. My partner is on Citalopram but has also been on sertraline too. Im waiting for it to kick in and get me out this funk!

PolarnOPirate · 22/01/2021 17:47

Me tooooo! Taking it 2 weeks out of 4 but tempted to take it all the time. Can't believe people go around feeling good like this just naturally. Explains a lot of why I felt so inferior!

Eggsley · 22/01/2021 17:59

I'm 3 months into taking citalopram and it's doing wonders for me. I don't cry all the time, I don't feel annoyed or angry about everything, I feel much lighter and more able to cope with things. I wish I'd had it for the last 20 years!

glassecase · 22/01/2021 18:14

I find my husband less annoying. I was literally getting angry with annoyance

Littleelffriend · 22/01/2021 18:16

Love it too, just gone back on it and wish I had done years ago

Bicnod · 22/01/2021 18:21

How's everyone's sleep on it? GP suggested it for me a while ago but I decided to try st John's wort instead (not helping) but I'm a terrible sleeper anyway and I've heard it can make it worse??

I was sleeping badly before but fine now. I used to wake with racing negative thoughts. Seem to be calmer now
