To order a McDonalds?

I’m the biggest McDonalds fan ever. I never order for delivery though because it’s £3.99, have done once or twice as a special treat. (I know some may say I’m unreasonable for loving mcdonalds so much when it’s overpriced over processed crap, but the heart wants what the heart wants😂)
I’m doing veganuary and have been sent a code for 40% of McDonald’s that runs out on Sunday. It would basically make the delivery free. Would one cheat meal defeat the whole point of veganuary? I won’t be carrying it on from 1st Feb but will definitely be incorporating more vegan food into my diet, particularly during the week.

They are certified by the Vegetarian Society not Vegan Society (even if they have changed to not contain milk, they still go through the same toaster etc as everybody else's)

Glad you did it and hope you enjoyed! Just don't be telling people you're a vegan though Grin

KarmaStar · 23/01/2021 13:26

Don't do it.stick to healthy vegan food.

DH was vegan for a year or two and could have McDonalds. He wasn't one of those "its only vegan if you can guarantee it has not at any point touched a surface that might have been touched by a non vegan product" type though, he just didn't eat or use animal products.

TheBuffster · 23/01/2021 13:38

It's more socially acceptable to be a vegan who bends the rules. DH is one too. I'm a lifelong vegetarian/vegan. I don't want any animal products in my food and my choice is just as valid as DH.

On a personal note veganuary is a nightmare for vegans because everyone steals the nice grub. (I'm not complaining though, it's great people do it. I just wish they stocked more veganaise)

For reference veganaise is like crack for vegans. Recommended.😋

@TheBuffster

It's like breaking dry January. If you have a vodka on the 2nd you can't say you've done it. Welcome to do what you like, but you won't have 'acheived' anything.

Vegan options are available at McDonald's.

The coupon will have been issued for this exact reason to entice customers back. It's like pubs doing special offers in January.

Of course she will have achieved something. One non vegan meal in a month of otherwise being plant based does not wipe out the achievements of the rest of the month or the fact that the op will have drastically reduced her use of animal products in January Hmm.
TheBuffster · 23/01/2021 13:56

But she can't say she went vegan is my point. She's a reducatarian. Not a bad thing at all.
I worded that badly, but it's because of people saying they're vegan whilst eating meat people insist I can have a little bit of chicken on my pizza etc.
I hope op got the vegan maccy d offer as well, because then it'd show they could do veganuary properly whilst going to old haunts.

Planty13 · 23/01/2021 14:00

Just do it. Veganuary is there to encourage people to eat less meat and try new recipes that can hopefully infiltrate some of their weekly cooking once’s it is over. A McDonald’s won’t change that 😁 enjoy

Treaclepie19 · 23/01/2021 14:02

I normally have a veggie deluxe (I'm veggie not vegan) and now I want one 😂

TheBuffster · 23/01/2021 16:25

Has anyone tried to get the veggie deluxe made vegan without the sauce? I pro am getting one now 😁👍
