Had enough of my family. I've gone on strike!

Locked down with DH and 4 teenagers. Apart from me, no one:

• cooks any proper meals
• loads/ unloads the dishwasher
• puts a wash on
• wipes kitchen surfaces/ cooker top
• sweeps the floor
• cleans the bathroom
• makes lunch

I have had enough and I'm not doing it all anymore. Last night, I made myself a fish finger sandwich for dinner and ate it in my room. Ignored everyone when they wanted to know what was for dinner. This morning, I made breakfast for me and I'm now sitting in bed drinking tea. Rant over. Thank you for listening!

They are all too precious and spoilt to make themselves a sandwich, so if I don’t lay out food they eat a slice of dry bread by the sink, then skulk around for snacks all afternoon.

Yes, my two do that as well, completely ignore what’s in the fridge and grab a slice of bread/crackers instead. Then wonder why they’re hungry! They know how to make lunch, why’s it so hard to do?!😂

OP, that's a win.

What you need to do next is put the plate under the bed or underneath some discarded clothes and wet towels.

Then make several cups of tea and leave them all to go cold and smelly.

I salute you! Keep it up, I think it is awesome and hope they get a massive wake up soon.

Sorry but I can't believe this. You live in a house with 5 adults and you do everything ?? More fool you. I have 5 kids . Everything is divided. Nobody sits down until everything is done .

Well aren't you a box of sunshine. Hope you feel great about yourself for kicking someone when they're down bc no other outcome has been achieved.

5 of us here, DH is on furlough, I work full time and kids are 10, 13 and 16.

Dishwashers is on a rota for the kids, although if I think they are hard done by (a lot that day depending on the meals, or the person the previous day not clearing enough through) then I will do the odd load.

DH does nothing, except his own laundry, but he won’t iron for himself. Kids will put a wash load on when asked, and everyone puts their own laundry away, some better than others!

DH is currently the hoover monitor, but only because it is a new hoover, and he likes it. It won’t last.

There is a constant battle to stay on top of stuff, and expectations have to be managed, we used to have a cleaner, but she hasn’t come since first lockdown.

Forgot to say everyone is responsible for their own breakfast and lunch, including the 10 yo. She can microwave leftovers, make super noodles, packet pasta and toast.this mainly started as she gets lunch from online school earlier than i am ready, but even in first lockdown she started fending fo4 herself.

Threw an epic strop, and retired to bed with a bottle of champagne and a crisp sandwich.

I feel your pain, we have five lazy teenagers and I could have wrote this post myself . Every single glass is left at the side of the sink for the magic washing up fairy. Laundry brought down in huge bundles and they state hey have tidied their room !! I am lucky if they open their blinds in the day !! Numerous rows here because of it and I am the nagging mother/ evil step mother !! We had all five for a two week period over Xmas, there was no light in the hallway as all their rooms were constantly shut. I almost packed my bags then realised there was no where to go 😂

I remember reaching breaking point with dh and the then teens, gathering all their collective crap left abandoned around the house and depositing it in their respective beds.
I then remade the beds neatly and closed the doors.

I feel your pain , then you get told your nagging after asking 10 times for something to be done , I think they hope we will give in and do it all ourself
