I’m staggered by the amount of things that have broken or died on me in the past 12 months
Including and not limited to:
3 apple products smashed
Roof leak
Bath
Toilet
Car
TV
And today electricity shorted and it’s a 50/50 it’s the washing machine OR fridge

Had anyone else had this ? It’s so fucking expensive and It’s almost bloody weekly now

I could have written that we have had TV go wrong pay for it to be fixed then dies again, fridge freeze, cooker, roof, leak from dishwasher and printer die oh plus car it's not just you!

Dislocatedeyeballs · 20/01/2021 23:22

Oh AND a new shower!

Thisisworsethananticpated · 20/01/2021 23:24

I wonder why ? Overuse or bad luck

Washing machine in lockdown 1, boiler this time round

IndieTara · 20/01/2021 23:28

Washing machine broke, fridge freezer too

AmelieTaylor · 20/01/2021 23:31

Fortunately not 🤞🏼(Yet)

But my kitchen tap is dripping and it's driving me fucking nuts. It's the sort of thing I'd have taken in my stride before & at least changed the washer to see if it fixed it. But it's very old and full of limescale (ore getting a water softener) and I'm worried it might just all fall apart and I have got the new tap & might need a plumber/fitter for that as I don't have the tools if the new tap needs to be put elsewhere. Again the sort of thing I'd have just done before but my brain fog is hideous at the moment and I can't think straight.

Fucking water torture though!!

I hope all of your appliances etc start behaving!!

yellowperil40 · 20/01/2021 23:31

Washing machine
Tumble dryer
Dishwasher
Car twice
Boiler
Cooker

Literally all of the above as well as a massive vet bill even after insurance pay out

All emergency fund wiped and left owing money now but until I can get back to work and earning more nothing I can do.

It's bloody depressing though Confused

Each month gets more frustrating financially and mentally now doesn't it Confused

SweatyBetty20 · 20/01/2021 23:33

Yep here too:
Boiler
Boiler again
Two treads on my stairs (160 years old)
Shower door
Light in the boarded loft
Fridge freezer
Outside light

Onedropbeat · 20/01/2021 23:36

3 people I know have had crazy car bills in the last month or two

Some times multiple times in the last year

Each time around £1000+

Elieza · 20/01/2021 23:46

@AmelieTaylor
My tap drips too and I’ve found a way to stop the noise - an old wooden spatula leaning against the top of the sink jammed upright by leaning the other end in the plug hole. Position directly under the dripping tap. The water drips quietly onto the wood and runs down into the hole. No drip sounds. Aaand relaaaax...Grin

We have sort of had this. My bra broke and I only had the one comfy one. Have resorted to the other 3 in my drawer, but they are all painfully uncomfortable or the elastic has gone and I was just keeping them for an emergency. DP's jeans have got a massive hole in and can't be mended and he's put on too much weight so none of his other pairs fit and the kids have outgrown their shoes. We do not have much money (hence no having much in the first place), so normally we would go to primark to replace things. Obviously that is not an option at the moment, and places like Matalan and Asda are out of the sizes of the things we need both online and in the store (when I went to the supermarket).

Our washing machine is sounding terrible, but it will have to rumble on (quite literally) until it stops working completely, and the hoover isn't far behind.

Oh and twice in the severe lockdowns I have got a tooth infection and had to have one tooth out and am waiting for a hospital appointment to have the other tooth out. I am incredibly lucky that we have an NHS Dentist and it has only cost me £60 per tooth as otherwise I would still be walking around in agony as I can't afford to have it done privately.

I know none of these things are massive bills in the scheme of it, but to us they are and we dread massive bills like anything going wrong with the car ( which at 18 years old is always a likely occurence).

MoreRainbowsPlease · 20/01/2021 23:49

I forgot the shower broke. Luckily DP fixed it, but it is only a temporary fix and at some point it will need replacing, but that will be quite a major job and requires removing tiles. DP will be doing it, so it will be months before he has time to do it.

baileysisforme · 20/01/2021 23:56

Yep and here
Washing machine
And then new washing machine
Radiator leak
Roof leak
An iPad
A smashed iPhone
Tumble dryer is now on the blink

RiojaRose · 21/01/2021 00:19

I only have one problem but it’s all the plumbing. Working extreme hours so no energy to investigate plumbers. Hoping the bath won’t crash through the floor into the cellar before I get round to getting the leaks sorted.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/01/2021 00:24

We had a roof leak, a dripping bathroom tap, kitchen lights went, and the microwave is currently looking dubious.

More importantly, I had to replace my Kindle which died.

ConfusedcomMum · 21/01/2021 00:27

Yup we've had:

Boiler problems
Tap leaking
Roof leaking
Groundwater flooding in cellar for months
Electrical problem with some lights

ineedaholidaynow · 21/01/2021 00:32

Tumble dryer and washing machine have both had to be replaced. Gas fire stopped working. And now one of the toilets doesn’t flush!

Car service was horribly expensive and now the sun roof is leaking! At least we have saved on petrol not going anywhere apart from the garage!

PerfidiousAlbion · 21/01/2021 00:48

Glad its not just me. Ive had:

Flickering lights/dodgy electrics
Hot water going cold/hot/cold/hot
Dishwasher broken/flooding
Washing machine broken
Kettle broken
TV broken

I'm assuming it's due to increased use as Ive been working from home for a year now.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 21/01/2021 00:51

Nothing has broken this time, so far 🤞, but in the 1st lockdown I broke the sink and we had to wait for the housing association to send someone around to mend it. They deemed it to be a non-essential repair so we had to wait for the lockdown to ease before they would come out. We had to use a bowl and empty it into the outside drain for ages. When I called them, months later, they said they weren't going to send someone out after all because I'd caused it until we paid them £50. Dh and his brother bought the part from a diy shop for about £2.50 and repaired it in 10 minutes.

At the same time we also had a leak inside the boiler that ran into the kitchen below. Luckily that didn't cost us anything because it wasn't our fault and they came and fixed it that day.

ozymandiusking · 21/01/2021 00:59

In some cases, I think this happens if couples get together, and buy one or two items( or more) at the same time, things go wrong at the same time.As Shakespere said,

“When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions."

SnoozyLou · 21/01/2021 01:28

We've been through a washing machine, a tv, a fridge freezer and now an oven since the first lockdown.

Oh, and a car and a van.

🤦‍♀️

MrsBellamy · 21/01/2021 09:19

Me too I've had

Car
DP van
Washing machine
Dishwasher
Laptop
iPad
And roof leak - although this has been going on for almost 2 years and the roofer has been out multiple times and can't find the source.

Sparklingbrook · 21/01/2021 09:25

Washing machine gave up.

Problems with 30+ year old antique boiler. Amazingly the heating man could fix it. I was expecting much sucking of teeth and a new boiler.

I think the shower is thinking about packing up. It's been making some weird noises. Sad

myusernamewastakenbyme · 21/01/2021 09:37

Ive had a roof leak....washing machine leak....brake fluid leak on car....oven died new years eve....i literally cannot afford anything else until my work reopens.

Chwaraeteg · 21/01/2021 09:53

Yep, washer/dryer needed 3 parts replaced, 1 broken toilet, a broken kettle and now the dishwasher is on the blink!

I also noticed just before Christmas that LOADS of people at work had repair men in fixing washers/boilers/roofs etc Confused
