Anybody else sick of going for walks?

There’s only so much walking around a housing estate you can do. There’s muddy fields behind me and a walk around an old fort. And it’s raining. We do have a treadmill but that’s even less inspiring.

😫

I run and cycle because walking is too placid.

And today the school set a skipping challenge for DS. OMG Remember all those skipping tricks learnt in junior school playgrounds 😀. Not nearly so easy now! Had me in a muck sweat in minutes showing off to DS.

So if you want some exercise with a difference..........

CoronaIsWatching · 19/01/2021 17:33

No one's forcing you to go for a walk

Robbybobtail · 19/01/2021 17:36

Hmm
DeepfriedPizza · 19/01/2021 17:42

There’s a woman on YouTube that does walking videos. There’s a bit more too it than just walking on the spot but not as energetic as running. I tried it once when it was too icy to run outside and it was quite good.

WalrusWife · 19/01/2021 17:44

CoronaIsWatching - what else do you suggest we do? Sit inside until lockdown is over, staring at the four walls?

I live on the edge of the country. There’s millions of walks. I could easily find a new one every day. They’re everywhere, some ive never noticed before.

But I am also sick of going on walks. Even in country mud. Mud everywhere. I just want a nice cafe at the end where l can sit down.

sausagepastapot · 19/01/2021 17:47

Yes I have been since last March. Bored to tears.

MrDinklesOhSnap · 19/01/2021 17:47

@CoronaIsWatching I’d love to hear what exciting smorgasbord of local outdoor activities you have available to you, but for most of us a walk from the house is as good as it gets.

jewel1968 · 19/01/2021 17:48

I listen to podcasts on my walks - makes it more enjoyable. Don't get out of the house when working but when not working I do. Think you have to force yourself otherwise your circadian rhythms will be messed up.

PuppyMonkey · 19/01/2021 17:49

Also sick to death of walks - unfortunately ddog insists on us still doing them. Grin

Iheartmysmart · 19/01/2021 17:50

Even my dog is fed up with walking and the same walks every day. There’s four local walks that are quite nice but we’ve done them to death now.

Summerdayshaze · 19/01/2021 17:50

No. I’m recently paralysed and would give anything to walk.

WalrusWife · 19/01/2021 17:51

I can see the sea from our house but on a weekend the car parks are super busy and the council is telling people not to go. We would normally do a long weekend seaside walk followed by brunch out in normal times. Or a walk through the houses to a local cafe but they are closed

I think many of us are sick of lots of things.

I rarely get time to walk. But my challanges lie elsewhere
OH now is rarely at home due to the covid situation and I work 7 days a week
I also care for two adult family members.
If I can have a walk once a week I would be happy.

Porcupineintherough · 19/01/2021 17:53

No, I've always liked walking. But I do miss not being able to do other things too.

My kids however would happily never see the inside of the local woods ever again.

BogRollBOGOF · 19/01/2021 17:53

I ended up knee deep in a stream to wade out to a footbridge last weekend.
That was not the muddiest route avaliable.

Pavement pounding (tedious, my knees hate it)
Packed out parks with formation walkers obstructing the paths
Or
Mud. I'm used to mud, but the footfall has pulverised the ground far worse than it should be for this level of wetness/ part of winter.

Read, study, take online courses, take up a new hobby
Ikeepbuyinganimals · 19/01/2021 17:54

I was sick of it, yes.Could you make it more fun?

I've downloaded audiobooks (there are some free classics online) to listen to pass the time whilst walking, downloaded podcasts that engage my brain more than music. Post on your local social media and see if anyone wants to join you for your exercise and have a chat.

This has happened in our local village and now there are 70 odd people in a group where we just post if we fancy a walk and ask if anyone wants to join us. Its been great and I've met a bunch of new people and hardly noticed the actual walking bit!

Sarahandduck18 · 19/01/2021 17:56

I’m sick of walks.

I do drive locally to different parks to walk around though. But it’s still not much variety.

Now DS is even refusing to do that so I’m stuck in wishing I could go on a walk.

PickAChew · 19/01/2021 17:57

I am, until the ground gets covered in ice and I miss being able to go for walks!

SoupDragon · 19/01/2021 17:59

I don't mind walking at all but it is soooo muddy! I'm fed up of boots heavy with mud, wet muddy spaniel, slipping...

cherrypop86 · 19/01/2021 17:59

Yes it's boring and cold. Sick of going the same places day in day out. I've been staying in more and more.

DumplingsAndStew · 19/01/2021 18:00

What do you normally do for exercise over the winter?

NerrSnerr · 19/01/2021 18:07

I'm bored of taking the children around the same areas on their scooters. We have some really lovely hills which would be classed in our local area but every other bugger in the county go there so they're too rammed and the car park always full so we go to the little hill by the cricket pitch almost every time.
