To be completely overwhelmed at being pregnant again

Please be kind.

10 minutes I ago I did a test. It was positive.

I have a difficult 10 month old DD and we've just moved into our new home this week. It needs a lot of work which we were really excited about starting.

I'm shocked. This wasn't planned. Though we wanted to try sometime this year.

DH is downstairs and I don't want to tell him. I know he'll be ecstatic as he's an extremely hands on dad.

I just feel shocked and overwhelmed. I struggled and still struggle with DD and I don't know how I'm going to cope with 2 under 2 and renovations.

Please someone tell me that's it's just all going to be ok and I can get through it.

Firstly. Congratulations.
Secondly. My daughter is 18 months now. She's a totally different child to how she was at 10 months.

I'm 28 weeks pregnant with no.2. I felt very overwhelmed to begin with. I'm not so worried now. I know it'll be hard but it'll be worth it.

Congratulations I hope it’s sunk in a bit now. You will be absolutely fine, you are a strong women and have got this!!!

@isurvived3under2 I agree with you. My son was 18 months when the baby was born and it seemed like he was 2 five minutes later!

I did it. With renovations. It is so so hard but also absolutely joyful and you CAN do this. DH needs to have a serious talking to so he fully gets how much team working and pitching in will have to happen.

Thank you everyone for replying and being so supportive.

Just took a day to try and process it and realise that I'll just have to get on with it some way or another!!

I feel reassured that so many of you have gone through the same scenario and seem relatively unscathed by it!! You are pretty much all super women! Especially those of you with a toddler and twins?!?!?!

I can do this!

Now just need to register with a GP so I can access a midwife, let work know that I'm pregnant before I even go back from this maternity leave!! (I know I don't need to tell them but I'm a frontline clinical pharmacist so will need to be risk assessed I think?) and tell DH sometime this week. Did hint yesterday that we should get some rooms painted asap so we could start unpacking. . .

Again thank you all. Because of you guys I'm starting to feel a little excited. We only ever wanted two children ideally, so this will hopefully be my last pregnancy and we can settle into some kind of a routine 😊

@underneaththeash

I also don’t ‘believe in abortion’ as a method of birth control, but I’m glad that women who need it have access to it in the U.K. You’ll be fine OP - it happens (although my friends that had a very small age gap, only had 2).
Sorry if that came across as judgemental!!

I'm fully pro-choice. Women should be in charge of their own bodies and health and I am also glad that we live in a country where we are able to safely make those choices 😊
