AIBU about DH telling his DS about my redundancy?

Found out last night I'm getting made redundant from my job of 15 years out of the blue. Feel so upset and haven't got my head round it yet and not told any family or friends. Today I found out DH has told his adult DS about it, without asking or telling me he was doing so. AIBU to be so annoyed at him for doing this?! My head's all over the place as I'm the only wage earner (DH can't work due to long term illness) .

Not saying it is this but is it anything to do with you getting pay off after being there so long, and you not wanting anyone to know about it/how much etc.?

LizFlowers · 15/01/2021 13:57

I'm sorry for you but I never thought redundancy was a confidential matter.

Ha definitely not we are getting statutory minimum redundancy! It's not that I don't want people to know I just wanted to be the one to tell people once I'd got my head round it having just found out myself, like a few PP have said it's like having the rug pulled out from under you. Thanks for the everyone's supportive comments it means a lot

I think unless you'd expressly told him not to tell anyone then your dh is well within his rights to tell his dc

Totally understand your feelings. Even if you can see it coming the finality of redundancy comes as a shock.

You will go through a lot of feelings. I can remember feeling very angry and bitter. Though it can feel quite demoralising initially do get on with claiming JSA as soon as your employment ends.

Best wishes and Flowers

Oh so sorry OP, what a dreadful shock.

I can understand your annoyance at wanting to get your head around it before facing the world.

I really hope something else turns up soon.

For me this isnt just your news though is it. Surely your redundancy effects everyone and not just you.
If that is your attitude I assume you have got his ok to write about him on here.......

Be careful as some redundancy clayses say you can't speak to or tell other people!

He definitely should not have told his son
