Just seen a post on FB where people are talking about a scene from a film/TV series that has stuck in their minds.....seeing some of them has brought back some pretty scary memories.

Mine is the scene from Salems Lot where the vampire floats up to the window, taps on it and rasps "let me in".

Took me years after that to look out the window in the dark Hmm
Does anyone else have "fond" memories??

The scene in Eden Lake with the lit tyre Sad

ScrambledSmegs · 13/01/2021 22:26

The Grudge. Think it was the first film. When the nurse/social worker character is lying in bed and she looks under her covers and the face of one of the ghosts (the woman's I think) is staring back at her.

Shit me right up.

ScrambledSmegs · 13/01/2021 22:29

That's the JuOn - Grudge film. I've not seen the Hollywood remakes. Some friends told me not to bother as they came across as racist thanks to all the ghosts/demons being the original Japanese actors and all the humans who got killed were American. Not sure if that's true?

Whattodoffs · 13/01/2021 22:31

Does anyone remember the programme Supernatural?
I think it was the first episode and it showed their mother pinned to the ceiling surrounded in what I think was fire and that'a how they got into fighting spirits etc. Never watched any of the other episodes as that was enough for me lol

The bit in the conjuring when the spirit just appears on the top of the wardrobe, even though I know it happens it fucks me up every time. I love horror movies, can watch them by myself at 1/2 am but for some reason that part of the conjuring gets to me.

Ohh please try it again. Dh made me watch it on amazon prime last year (it came off as we were half way through season 11) i had no real interest in it, but it's so good, some grotesque episodes, but some truly hilarious!!!
Ltdannygreen · 13/01/2021 22:34

Whattodoffs · 13/01/2021 22:38

In Wallace and Gromit with the penguin, when his birthday card ran out of batteries from playing music I used to cry my eyes out. Why? I have no idea.

user1471565182 · 13/01/2021 22:43

Theres an old vietnamese folk story about a cannibalistic old woman that I had nightmares about for years. They should do a film of it, its so creepy. I'll try find the story.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 13/01/2021 22:44

I thought the remake of The Ring was crap and not scary at all but when I fell asleep after watching it I dreamt of the bit where she comes crawling out of the TV to get that boy but she was coming for me. It scared the shit out of me!

Mothership4two · 13/01/2021 22:45

Thanks @Andylion I didn't think it would be available now. Was it as scary?

Whattodoffs · 13/01/2021 22:47

@TwoZeroTwoZero I was like that with The Exorcist. Watched it and thought hmmmm, then watched a programme showing some scenes that didn't make the final cut and didn't sleep for months!

They have a real, real talent in south east asia for pulling off creepy stories. Have you ever seen the dead ancestor worship they do in indonesia? dont google it if you're squemish

flindorama · 13/01/2021 22:53

Daft Horror movie Critters from 1986. There was a scene when someone looks up and out the kitchen window and these red eyes are watching her. Freaked me out. Still does. Sometimes when I look out the window to the back garden in the dark, I have a minor freak out that the red eyes will pop up!

user1471565182 · 13/01/2021 23:03

Has anybody ever watched Come and See? if you like to subject yourself to a mentally disturbing barage (which I do) I can fully recommend it.

SunsetSenora · 13/01/2021 23:04

Once watched 'What lies beneath' which is, tbh, a pretty crappy film. But the wife is being haunted and starts realizing that there is something going on when she is in the bath in their old victorian home. Which looked really like the old victorian home I was living in at the time. I could not watch the end of the film or take a bath for ages. When I did watch the end of the film, it was really stupid, but it proper creeped me out. And the chair scene from Psycho. Fortunately not the shower scene or I would never get clean!

Osirus · 13/01/2021 23:05

The clown in Poltergeist - my heart started to race as I typed that! A truly terrifying movie.

A slightly less dramatic (but very sad) one, the scene in Benjamin Button at the very end when he evolved into a baby, and then obviously that’s it for him. I’d just had my baby when I first saw that and, well, the tears!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 13/01/2021 23:15

If anyone enjoys reading some super creepy stories, check out creepypasta website. Some honestly make a lasting impression

RonObvious · 13/01/2021 23:18

Weirdly enough, even though I have seen many horror films, the scenes that stayed with me were from more horror comedy ones. I remember watching Cyborg when I was very young and being traumatised by the scene where a little girl is made to try and save her family from falling down a well by holding them using a piece of barbed wire. That stayed with me for years. But the one that really haunted me was a trailer for a bizarre film called “Homebodies”, about a group of pensioners who are being evicted from a building that is being developed. I never saw the film, I just remember a bit in the trailer where a man is being slowly covered with cement. That gave me nightmares for weeks!

Whattodoffs · 13/01/2021 23:32

@RonObvious funny you should say that.
I can't remember for the life of me what the film was called, but it was a.comedy. At the end of the film the family were in a station wagon and were on a road and for some reason thr car got completely buried by cement leaving only a bit of a flag that was on the car, sticking out of the then hardened cement. The closing credits showed cars travelling on the road going over the flag.
To this day I still think about what I'd do if my car suddenly got covered in cement....would my phone work so I could call for help lol

Mine is the Terminator guy in Terminator 2. It's something about the way that he change into molten liquid that scares me.

Now the really weird thing is that I actually cosplay as Sarah Connor sometimes ( well when comic cons were a thing) but God his character scares me even though I've watched the film like a million times.. luckily I have never crossed paths with anyone playing his character yet.. phew...if I ever do , I am sticking to Mary Poppins and Sculder,
