Anyone else watching the live vote count?

TurquoiseBaubles · 13/01/2021 21:06

What happens if they run out of time?

Furries · 13/01/2021 21:07
@Furries - I'm outside both the US and the UK and am watching the debate live online via the Washington Post (to which I am subscribed). If I use a VPN, I can watch US channels online.

I'm shocked at the Republicans' playing down of what Trump did, even of what happened last week and saying more investigation needs to be done before impeaching him. Just look at his Twitter feed, you numbskulls!
Thank you! Life took over and am assuming I missed the Senate debate/vote. I‘ve caught all of the House coverage. Appreciate you letting me know!

JamieLeesCurtains · 13/01/2021 21:07

I'm assuming NV = not yet voted, in line.

Me. It's horrible
Gingaaarghpussy · 13/01/2021 21:07

@ThatIsNotMyUsername

Anyone else watching the live vote count?
Yup.
RedToothBrush · 13/01/2021 21:08

BBC saying apparently 9 Republicans have said they will

TurquoiseBaubles · 13/01/2021 21:08

They won't get through another 150 in 30 seconds

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 13/01/2021 21:08

I can’t quite believe how the republicans are still sticking with him... but it looks like they won’t get their way!

TurquoiseBaubles · 13/01/2021 21:09

Panic over, time mustn't matter Confused

JamieLeesCurtains · 13/01/2021 21:09

Voting isn't being timed out.

PusheenLove · 13/01/2021 21:10

@TurquoiseBaubles

Panic over, time mustn't matter Confused
Bizarre. Why put it?
minou123 · 13/01/2021 21:11

From what I understand, the Speaker can stop the clock.
I'm not clear why they can stop the clock. But the BBC say the vote will take about 30 mins.

TurquoiseBaubles · 13/01/2021 21:11

I'm not surprised by the numbers. Last week, even after all the violence, more than three quarters of these idiots voted to object to Pennsylvania's vote going through.

They care about nothing but themselves.

PusheenLove · 13/01/2021 21:11

What's H RES 24?

RedToothBrush · 13/01/2021 21:11

Kinzinger, Katko, Cheney, Anthony Gonzalez and Tom Rice (all voted yes).

Not sure who else yet.

Roussette · 13/01/2021 21:12

7 Repub votes for yes so far. Not sure there will be more...

Ben Riley-Smith @benrileysmith
Mitch McConnell statement on impeachment just circulated. Says he hasn't made up mind.

"While the press has been full of speculation, I have not made a final decision on how I will vote and I intend to listen to the legal arguments when they are presented to the Senate.”

Not a no. Also not a yes.

JamieLeesCurtains · 13/01/2021 21:15

The Democrats have the numbers though.

Marjorie Taylor Greene is sociopathically insane, surely? And dangerous.

borntobequiet · 13/01/2021 21:15

But I'll put in my vote for my state's governor, Gavin Newsom.

Yes he’s very acceptable. But I was transfixed by the enormous earrings on the woman on the left. They look like those semi circular veg choppers.

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/01/2021 21:15

Hres 24 is what they are currently voting on. It was Hres 21 last night/this morning. this has been on the screen during the live voting,

H res being house resolution?

TurquoiseBaubles · 13/01/2021 21:15

PusheenLove, house resolution 24 - today's motion? I presume H Res 8 is to do with absentee voting due to positive covid test? There's a fair few missing.

boatyardblues · 13/01/2021 21:16

Is the vote carried by a simple majority or is it more complex? I think I read 2/3 of those present, or was that for amendment 25?

AKissAndASmile · 13/01/2021 21:16

Sorry if this has already been said, but does anyone find it suspicious that two people involved in the insurrection have died by suicide? One was a guy who was charged with an offence www.mirror.co.uk/news/us-news/trump-fan-53-found-dead-23308716

The other was a police officer who was on duty www.buzzfeednews.com/article/claudiakoerner/capitol-police-suicide

In any case the body count is now up to 7.
