I've been part of this local tight-knit volunteering group for about a year now. Recently, there was a change in 'leadership' which is fine. I have, however, been told by her (twice!) to change my email address (it's listed in the private group listing) as it looks 'rude'!

My email address is simply firstnamelastname, with my first name being probably the most popular shortened variant of a fairly popular name. In her eyes, it contains nothing but 2 bad words which 'gives the wrong impression'. Surely people aren't that daft to not realise that it's just my name, and a well-known one at that?

I'm gobsmacked by the ridiculousness of it all. AIBU?

I would send her a sickly polite, bordering condescending response to say it means FirstName LastName, which just happens to be your name

I worked at a place helping people look for work one of the clients surname was cock the ideas for email addresses was basic first name surname Gmail etc and someone put a bloody s in so it read [email protected] and wondered why they got no reply to jobs they applied for

It will completely stump the woman if she isnt IT literate, and half the volunteers will stop reading their emails.
