To fancy The Beast

AIBU to have a very random crush on The Beast from ITV’s The Chase? He’s not my usual type in terms of looks, but there’s something strangely sexy about him! Blush Grin

Wife wanted an open marriage, he tried but couldn’t do it and is moving out next month.

JessicaHyde · 10/01/2021 23:05

The second cousin thing wouldn't put me off that much, but I read somewhere they had an "open" marriage. That kind of kerfuffle would put me off every time, he was willing to put up with that crap to be married to someone attractive. Marks someone out as being a shallow idiot. Which tbf is 99.9% of men.

JessicaHyde · 10/01/2021 23:07

Lol cherrysoup we must have seen the same thing.

The Beast and Dark Destroyer both come on these quizzes occasionally. www.redtoothsmartquiz.com/

I believe Dark Destroyer will be on tomorrow evening.

YABU in the extreme. He is bad tempered. This is my Chase Priority List:

  • Bradley, cheeky chappy, plus I had a DREAM about him a couple of years ago and he was surprisingly good
  • Dark Destroyer, very groomed, obviously a bit of a softy, I reckon he smells nice, he would have been top priority but then I had the Bradley dream
  • The Governess, I'm sure she knows a few tricks
  • Sinnerman always strikes me as being thoughtful and considered, this can make for excellent sex skills
  • The Vixen, very cute, also a good laugh
  • The Beast, in this position due to being bad tempered also he does this weird hand flicking thing when he answers while under pressure.

I haven't thought enough about the new guy yet but he looks a bit crumpled.

Oreservoir · 10/01/2021 23:26

The Chase is not about intelligence though op, it’s just having a photographic memory imo. It used to be called general knowledge.
I know my times table but it doesn’t mean I’m good at maths unless I can apply it when necessary.

Sidge · 10/01/2021 23:29

No Sean is much sexier. I do like a baldie and the trailer for their upcoming road trip shows The Dark Destroyer to be a bit of a hunk! (Shows age...). That man works out!

Bradley is hilarious and has a twinkle in his eye.

The Beast throws strops too often for my liking - I remember the one where a team beat him and he had a proper toddler tantrum and stormed off.

The Sinnerman is lovely, always so kind and gracious. He wouldn’t fancy me though.

I’m not sure about the new guy, he looks a bit grubby and dishevelled to me.

SoupDragon · 10/01/2021 23:29

He wasn't bad tempered or arrogant when two drunk Freshers asked him for a selfie 😂

@ShirleyPhallus

Gross

BUT, the Beast from Beauty and the Beast would get a seeing to. He was much sexier as a beast than a prince

I came on to say exactly this
MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 10/01/2021 23:39

I know a few people who were pupils of his when he was a maths teacher - they speak highly of him

The Beast has got a Masters in Maths from Oxford so probably fairly intelligent

I find him incredibly arrogant, that puts me off.

I've never met him personally, but from seeing him on telly, I think he used to be arrogant but has now become much less so, although he's obviously passionate about his quizzing skills and maintains the persona as his character on The Chase.

I remember seeing him on TV about 15 years ago in The People's Quiz, where he came second in the grand final to an outstanding 16yo girl, and he was very arrogant then - and quite bitter to lose to a child; but he seems very much more gracious (if still openly disappointed and frustrated when he loses) now.

I think I read that he has ASD, as does Anne, which might go some way to explaining his apparent arrogance. Chris Packham does as well, and his manner could often be interpreted as blunt and arrogant; but he isn't at all - he's just passionate and fascinated about his areas of interest and keen to share his in-depth knowledge.

Shaun is my favourite of the first five (Darragh seems very nice, but I haven't really seen much of him yet to be able to judge). A friend of mine was on there once, and got him, and she confirmed as much. Apparently, he's the only one who goes to meet the contestants in the bar afterwards, whether he wins or loses. He's obviously happy to play along with the 'Mr Boring' persona they've assigned to him, but you can see that the required 'trash-talking' doesn't come naturally to him, even just as part of the act. Paul is very similar in that respect.

I wonder if it has anything to do with their backgrounds and the fact that, for the other three, quizzing IS what they do and so they have more of a reputation for brilliance at it to uphold. If you're a qualified doctor and popular comedian or a high-ranking barrister, I imagine you feel like you have less to prove if you have another highly-respected string to your bow.

If they do seek another Chaser - and aren't specifically after a female one to even up the numbers a bit more - I really, really want them to get Shaun Williamson. He's another one with amazing general knowledge, a talented actor and great singer, and yet so humble and, by all accounts, a genuinely lovely bloke. It might get a bit confusing having two Shaun Ws on the show, but they could always give him 'Barry' as his rather underwhelming Chaser name and make him change it by deed poll Grin

See I LOVE the hand flicking thing! And I have no idea why! Grin
