CF Parking Thread! (with diagram of course)

The house next door to me is for sale. It appears to be over priced but that’s another thread. Saying that, it’s has had an awful lot of viewings. They come in blocks of about 6 viewings every other day or so.

Anyway, I digress. The house for sale has a large driveway which fits 3 cars easily (green area on the diagram)
I have a double drive, one behind the other, and park in the red spot. The yellow spot is empty. The black arrow where they walk across.

Every single time there are viewings, at least one car parks on my drive and then slowly saunters across the front of my house, right across the window, where they have a nosey in!

I ignored it the first time but now every single viewing slot, somebody parks there. Yesterday I was in the kitchen at the back of the house. Took the bin out, opened the gate and came face to face with two women! I asked what they were doing and she said “just looking at the neighbours house!” I noticed her car on my drive and asked her to move it. She just reversed backwards on to the road, then walked straight across my lawn.

It’s happened 4 times now. As soon as I see viewings going on I’m going to reverse my car into the second space. It’s not like they can mistake which house with is. There is a full branded EA car on the drive (leaving 2 easily accessible spaces) and a for sale board.

Sorry, no advice needed, just needed a moan! 🤣😂

@SoupDragon

No, it really wasn't. The PP made it clear they disagreed with previous advice

Yes, it really was. I can't believe anyone would think it was something other than a joke.

To everyone else it was clearly just shitty advice and it remotely amusing but you believe what you like! Confused

We used to live in a house with the garage door straight onto the road. The road had double yellows and no parking signs on the garage door. It didn't stop an estate agent from 2 doors down parking in front of it with her shiny BMW. Unfortunately I genuinely didn't know her car was there when I pressed the remote button for the garage door to get my car out. I doubt the viewers bought the house, after the crazy lady from 2 doors down shouted at the estate agent for getting her own car scratched.

I don't know OP but all I can see is the alien face in the top left background Grin

I think it's pretty obvious just to park in the yellow spot for now.

You can buy interlocking, hammer-in fencing pretty cheap that you can put along the edge of your lawn to deter people taking a short cut.

Something like this:

Put up a large sign saying Parking £15/hr or part thereof. Parking and leaving your car means that you accept this. Cash only. Walking over the garden - £5/per person, each direction.

Then see if they stay parked or try to walk over your garden...

If they do stay parked, pop your head out as soon as you see them nosing in the window and say ooh lovely, thanks for coming to pay, are you going to be walking over the lawn too? Both ways? That will be £25 cash please. Sorry no change available.

If they challenge you then just say that you are getting so fed up with people trespassing on your drive and damaging your lawn you thought that if you can’t beat them you might as well join them so inspired by Park on my Drive (or whatever those websites are called, can’t remember exactly), you’ve decided to charge for parking so that you can repair the damage to the lawn and improve it...

Then if they refuse to pay, pop your head into the property and ask the EA to pay as their clients aren’t and she can get from them later - you don’t see why you should be out of pocket...

Bet they will keep back pretty sharpish!

BlackCatShadow · 11/01/2021 04:54

The problem the OP has is that it’s different people doing it each time. So, even if she does yell at someone or makes them move, it doesn’t solve the problem long term. Speaking to the estate agent and telling them to ask viewers not to park on the neighbor’s drive may work. Blocking access would work better.

Hollyhobbi · 11/01/2021 05:55

How on earth are all those people allowed in a viewing. No wonder Covid is rampant! And they are cheeky feckers parking like that too.

XjustagirlX · 12/01/2021 15:15

Did you mention that there are parking restrictions on the road? If that’s the case then maybe the estate agent is telling them about the restrictions and to park on your driveway as you only have one car. Your neighbour may have assumed you would be ok with it.

In the meantime park in the yellow bit and phone up the EA

DynamoKev · 12/01/2021 15:38

This is just inflammatory, antagonistic, a hassle, a bad example to OP's toddler and will make her look like a lunatic.....
You say that like it's a bad thing.

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 12/01/2021 18:00

Sorry, I seem to have confused some of you. I’m number 31 and 30 is for sale. It’s a shared lawn across the front of both properties. This is the EA picture of the front. The yellow door is mine and the red spot where they are parking. The house on the left, the whole drive, half the lawn and the garage bare the property for sale.

There have been no viewings that I have been aware of since I posted...

Green door, not yellow. Long day!

Thank you all for your posts 😊

Ok, so I’ve just been on Zoopla and the EA website and it’s completely gone? No “under offer” or “sold” just gone?

OP posts:
Lurkingforawhile · 12/01/2021 21:08

No such thing as a shared lawn. Unless you mean that they own half, you own half, and there is no boundary. In which case I would be putting a boundary marker in esp as it's for sale

BlackCatShadow · 12/01/2021 21:38

She just reversed backwards on to the road, then walked straight across my lawn.

Ok, just that you complained that she walked across your lawn, so I guess she walked across the shared, which is fine?

Anyway, it sounds like they decided not to sell or perhaps they will go with another estate agent.

BernardTheRobot · 12/01/2021 21:44

Maybe the removed it after seeing this thread OP 🤣🤣

Summersun2020 · 12/01/2021 21:57

It’s even worse after seeing the picture! It’s so obvious that it’s your driveway! The cheek!

MissMarpleDarling · 12/01/2021 22:13

They must have been told they can park there, how odd!
