To not want my son to play Among Us any more after discovering this

My 8 year old recently started playing this game with his friends. It has skyrocketed in popularity recently. I was fine with this because although it isnt educational, it is social and arguably teaches important life skills. However, whilst watching him running around the Skeld sabotaging stuff it occurred to me.... Everyone in the game is wearing spacesuits with bulky oxygen packs on their backs. However, if the oxygen is sabotaged and they dont fix it in time then everyone dies. WHY? If the spacesuits arent actually doing anything then why cant they take them of and check to see who is the murderous alien. If the spacesuits are doing something then why does everyone panic when the oxygen goes of.
I could overlook the leaves in the garbage disposal since maybe they are space-leaves, but everytime I watch him play now I get incredibly annoyed.
So AIBU to delete the app on the grounds of its shocking lack of realism and logic???

Have you heard of Octodad? it will blow your mind. Also, my son says they're not oxygen tanks, they're back packs or jetpacks but I'm not sure how much to trust him!

you could join in among us game with your Son. I used to play with my DD and a few of her friends (they WhatsApp call during games with us all) but I had to stop as I kept SIMPING for my DD, lying that she was safe & had been with me, when she was imposter! The mum imperative took over which wasn't really fair

And we swooped phones whenever I got imposter so she could be imp again, as she's far more ruthless about killing crew, I just like the tasks Am sure pp became confused when I went from full sentences one game to next of "bruh, you tripping'"

I used to restrict the amount of screen time he had quite heavily. Then Covid 19 happened (we are in strict lockdown at the moment were I am) and it became selfish/irresponsible to let him play with his friends, he is an only child, he speaks to his teacher and class online, we havent seen my family (who we are close to) for almost a year. If he didnt play with friends online he literally wouldnt get to speak to socialise with anyone and I dont think thats healthy. Plus how exactly am I meant to play with him when I work from home. So yes, he probably does spend too much (supervised) time on screens, including Netflix and Among us as well as online learning sites but what exactly is the alternative? Sorry for bringing the mood down, smug/judgy posts like this really really annoy me. But if I complained that my son was spending too much time on screens I'd be accused of wanting to murder grannies.

@sparticuscaticus I would really like to join! I drifted away from mumsnet for a few days and felt jealous when I saw that Among Us games had been organised while I was ofline. Let me know when the next one is :)

I tried to play this when DS first got into it, but I was on my phone and couldn't get the hang of the controls. I was rather concerned he was cheating because they have a discord voice chat at the same time and tend to have games where 3 or more are their friends are on with random people, it felt a little unfair. Having listened in though, it seems they are usually pretty sporting about it.

I'd like to have a proper go, but I'd probably get lost and murdered very quickly!
