I'm going to do a "tapas night" to treat myself since there's no going out!

What's your favourite tapas? I seem to remember eating some kind of chorizo and honey combo, but give me your ideas of things to make!

I miss tapas. It's not the same at home

PenCreed · 06/01/2021 11:49

This thread has made me dig out my tapas cookbook and decide to do tapas over the weekend! The book has me great vegetable recipes in it too - green beans with cumin/coriander and fennel with chickpeas are two of my favourites.

My favorite tapas are in the bathroom. It is a mixer tapa with a sort of waterfall effect. Wink

IamMaz · 06/01/2021 12:32

Aubergine with onion and pine nuts
Artichoke with prawns
Artichoke with raisins and balsamic vinegar
Garlic mushrooms and scrambled egg
Tuna croquettes
Baby broad beans with salted ham and onions

I could go on....
Haven't been over to our place in Spain for almost a year now. Sad

This is reminding me of the lovely restaurants we know and wondering whether they have survived or not...

AdaColeman · 06/01/2021 12:47

Fried octopus

Mussels in tomato sauce

Sardines with lemon

Fresh tuna slices with olives

Deep fried artichokes

TheSoapyFrog · 06/01/2021 12:47

Chorizo in red wine, garlic prawns, whitebait, patatas bravas, cured meats and olives.

Elouera · 06/01/2021 12:54

Another I forgot about is 'migas', meaning crumbs. Each region has a slight variation, but its originally a shepherds dish using left over, stale bread cooked in chorizo and the oil. Sometimes with left over veg, tomatoes in it. I've also seen it done in a shot glass with a quail egg and grapes in it. Sounds odd, but the sweet grapes and salty chorizo actually goes together really well.

beckyboops · 06/01/2021 12:59

Jamón serrano and queso manchego is a must!
Pimientos de Padrón
You can't go wrong with huevos rotos, basically chips fried egg and chorizo all mixed up together. Delicious!

ElaineMarieBenes · 06/01/2021 13:07

Tarta de Santiago with a glass of Pedro Jimenez!

Dailyhandtowelwash · 06/01/2021 13:08

Anything in romesco sauce.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/01/2021 13:11

Berenjenas, sort of fried courgette strips with honey and balsamic drizzled over.

I love this with aubergine. It has to be dark honey though - almost black.

elQuintoConyo · 06/01/2021 13:18

Pimientos de Padrón are the mutt's nuts, especially when you're munching away and suddenly get a really spicey one!

There's a place here where you help yourself, then they count up your sticks at the end of the night and charge you by number.

We also have a ten-day tapa festival every year, go to different restaurants, buy a small beer and a tapa, tick it off your list, go to the next. There's also sweet tapas.... I'll have a Google and see if I can find any examples.

LadyLindaT · 06/01/2021 13:19

Just all of it. I love tapas. If you want desert, you've underordered 😂

Mmmh. I love morcilla: holafoodie.com/recipe/cojonudo-cojonuda/

Also boquerones, almejas and mejillones.

Now I was to go on holiday. Ahhh dreams.

PaulAoibheann · 06/01/2021 13:46

Oh we´re in Gran Canaria right now and love tapas. So here goes...
1.coated fried Berenjenas (aubergine chips or disks) dipped in palm syrup
2.gambas (prawns) in hot garlic oil
3.any pinxos ( not sure about the spelling) so that means anything piled on a slice of baguette with a stick thro it.

  1. calamari fried or coated and fried , with aioli or lemon
  2. tortilla of course and we love the potato AND onion version- in fact my hubbie makes it so well we included our most successful recipe find under recipes we like in the TIPs section of my blog ( fromcooktochef.com )
  3. look in there too for tomato bread - a favourite of ours ( pan tumaca ) and it´s so easy an versatile.
  4. Another recipe I´d like to put in there is ROPA VIEJA which is a stew made with leftovers ( old stew / old clothes it means). Usually it´s chick peas plus any leftover meats and veggies added to garlic fried in oil with some sweet paprika.
Now I´m hungry ! Enjoy.

Berenjenas con Miel!

Aubergine Dumplings with really dark sticky honey, literally the nicest thing I have ever eaten!
