What was ok about 2020 for you?

I got to go on holiday. Massively lucky. We just got to go to Spain when lockdown eased and things were ok. It was the best 2 weeks ever!

I work for the NHS so have not been furloughed at all and my DH has had to cope with the home schooling which has been a nightmare.

I guess my AIBU is was there any part of 2020 that wasn't awful?

coldcoffeefy · 03/01/2021 01:36

I had a baby. I also left my children’s dad who was a horrible abusive arsehole, got a new home and although financially we’re doing a bit shit me and the DC are so much happier.

NovemberR · 03/01/2021 01:41

I realised I don't need much in life and I've probably got enough stuff.

DH was a great person to be in lockdown with and I've been lucky to marry him.

I worked from home since March. Utter bonus

Rainbowqueeen · 03/01/2021 01:52

I got to work from home and spent each morning having a lie in, relishing the lack of commute. I’ll probably never get that opportunity again.
I also made lots of progress declutter if, discovered lots of new local walks and new recipes.

BinkyBoinky · 03/01/2021 01:53

I managed to keep my job after furlough. I feel very lucky.

NiceGerbil · 03/01/2021 01:56

Icanflyhigh · 03/01/2021 01:58

DuchessofPemberley · 03/01/2021 01:59

After a long struggle and miscarriages, I got pregnant early in lockdown. Due this month! Smile

I got to slow down and focus on what is important.

Have not missed the endless whirl of after school activities. Dc no longer go to wrap round care. I got to pick my 6yo up from school at 3pm rather than him staying in after school club. I relish having his little hand in mine even if he annoys me when we get home! He won't be in infant much longer so I've been able to enjoy that. My 10yo enjoyed walking himself to and from school. Zoom music and tutoring takes the pressure off me to run dc about and be supermum.

Work is flying for now despite WFH and I've not had to travel round the UK or go to godawful networking events. Dh isn't travelling as much as usual.

I've been able to avoid many family obligations. I enjoyed time at home without the usual plan's all the time and no need for FOMO.

Dhs company has not yet gone under.

I have taken up the violin.

The weather was lovely for the first lockdown and I missed the real heatwave in August (my holiday was a wash out but at least I wasn't sweating buckets at home!!)

I finally got a family Christmas just the 4 of us. Guilt free and no exhausting travel round the UK trying to see family. We pleased ourselves.

I stopped wasting money on restaurants and no foreign holidays saved a lot. It's a shame ds2s 7th birthday is in lockdown but we will save the cost of an expensive group booking and can do a half birthday this summer instead.

Moved to a lovely new home, mental health has improved thanks to the more relaxed pace of life, partner's MH also far better due to reduced anxiety because of quieter streets and public places, social distancing etc, haven't had a single cold or sniffle since people started wearing masks in public and staying out of my personal space.

I'm beginning to miss the pub, and despite reduced alcohol intake my belly is getting bigger, but all in all 2020 has been quite a productive year. I'm planning to get a bit more exercise, lose the belly flab, and to continue practicing social distancing from here on in whether other people want to or not, so if 2021 is a slightly watered down 2020 I'll be reasonably happy.

ZenNudist · 03/01/2021 02:05

I have been fortunate with health both mine and family and friends. I thank God and pray for everyone who has been sick, lost loved ones, or just been scared or isolated. Most important!

LoveMyKidsAndCats · 03/01/2021 02:40

I've got to spend lots of lovely time with my kids. They are teen boys and before all of this I was feeling abit sad that they will be setting off with their own lives before I know it and i wished for more time with them. It's been lovely.

Seafog · 03/01/2021 02:48

Dh and I drove across Canada, taking our time with it, and it was brilliant, like a honeymoon. We had been talking about the trip for years, so it was great to finally do it.
We have moved and settled into our new digs, made new friends and found jobs right away. The kids are healthy, as are our parents.
And I have all been beaches to explore for sea glass

What was ok about 2020 for you?
CoRhona · 03/01/2021 02:49

Weather was glorious; really appreciated family; had time to think on what work we wanted done in the house and get it done; holiday was cancelled but fully refunded so bank balance looking good.

Also finally managed to get rid of a manager who caused me lots of trauma; and started a degree which I love.

But: holiday was cancelled Sad and did really miss seeing friends and family. Very weird year indeed Confused

MossandRoy · 03/01/2021 02:55

I managed to save some money. I now have a two month buffer. Plus I got to spend glorious sunny days with my dcs with no pressure to go anywhere, we just enjoyed each others company at home.

yawnsvillex · 03/01/2021 02:56

I lost weight and ran a 10K

TuxedoPantherSheHer · 03/01/2021 02:56

I’ve been chronically ill and not always been reliably able to go out and about for years, so things like so many classes, clubs and meetings that require regular/set attendance moving online has really opened up the world for me.

squeekums · 03/01/2021 03:45

we got a holiday in just before aus borders closed
i found work
we bought a house in Queensland

nocturnalke · 03/01/2021 03:51

Saved money, but even better our beautiful baby girl was born in August.
