It's up to you to decide whether you think MJ is a pedo or not, everyone is entitled to come to their own conclusion... but I think he was guilty and it's kind of ruined his music for me.

I won't storm out of a restaurant if one of his songs comes on! but I won't play his music myself because I can't separate his music from how disgusted I am by him.

That being said, for those that do believe he is guilty do you now veto playing his music? Has it ruined his music for you too? Or have you found a way to compartmentalise your feelings about it?

Side note: I understand not everyone thinks he's guilty, that's fine! Completely up to you to decide what you think. Not here to judge, just to hear other people's feelings.

I agree with you.

I liked his music, but I don't play it anymore. If it comes on the radio, I turn it off. I don't think it should be played in public any more and am always shocked and revolted if I do hear it.

He was a very damaged person, but he damaged others, and the money and fame from his music allowed him to get away with it. When I hear the music, I think of what he did and I feel sick and angry and sad. So it's a personal inability to enjoy it anymore, but also a moral position, because someone is still profiting from the wages of his abuse.

If I liked his music, I would listen to it regardless of what he might have been.
I'm not interested the personal lives, politics or predilections of artists.
So long as expressing themselves in their work isn't exploitative, oppressive, abusive, etc.

I don’t demand certain standards of behaviour, beliefs or even hygiene from people who make the art, music or theatre, just that it's good.
Even really reprehensible people can make great art and have the right to make a living.

No I don't listen to him anymore . I thought he was guilty long before he died though. Just watching some interviews he did screamed peadophile . Dirty bastard 🤮

Our school choir had the kids king one of his songs a few years ago and I thought that was a bit 👀

It's something I've struggled with not so much MJ but the Lost Prophets, Gary Glitter etc. Their crimes don't mean they weren't good musicians but it does taint it as It's all I can think of when I listen, and also means I worry people will think I am an apologist if I am still using their entertainment.
MJ was extremely talented and his songs are fantastic-there's no getting away from that. Lots of people still listen to him, It's just, an argument starter sometimes if someone admits that they listen to him,the debate begins if someone disagrees. I often CBA with that sort of thing.
