Alicia keys.. Nye! Wtaf

Is it me or is it a load of depressing shite!
We put TV on 15 min ago and honestly I've had to turn it off.

I think Alicia Keyes has a fantastic voice but it sounded like she needed to clear her throat the whole way through which is a shame. Not sure why she had mirrors on her suit though!

Maybe she's recovering from a viral respiratory infection?

I missed the light show as A. I didn’t know it was on and B. Thought wtf at Alicia Keys being on so didn’t watch it!

Nothing against Alicia Keys but Lord, what a depressing choice for NYE! Only reason I'm glad I kept it on is that they showed the fireworks and light show, which I'd have missed if I switched to Jools.

What was Alicia Keys on? I don't get why everyone is annoyed. Couldn't you just not watch?

I agree that Jools and his Hootenanny can do one. Self indulgent and time for a change. I would sign a petition.
I don’t mind Alicia Keys but it wasn’t a good choice for NYE and as my sons stay up each year to watch the bongs, they didn’t want to watch that.
It is hard to please everyone, but I think it was naff this year when it should’ve been better.

I ended up putting the chic NYE concert on from a few years ago. I even timed it for the fireworks and count down. Me and DD, well mostly me... had a right good boogie.

The BBC would have been better doing a re run of a previous concert, or having the paddy McGinnis thing on a bit later.

Like op, we were all thoroughly enjoying totp2 on BBC4 with all the party hits - dancing around the living room, really getting into the spirit. Then it finished at 11.30 so they could put on a show about Dawn French.

Nothing against Dawn French but could they not just have shown more totp as the New Year came in?

The hootenanny is my idea of hell.

I thought Alicia Keys sounded like she had a cold or sore throat. Her singing was fine though, apart from the Coldplay cover which was in the wrong key for her.

The NYE choices are always a bit strange imo. But then you're never going to appeal.tp everyone's taste. SEB was on Radio 2 last night from 7-9 with a kitchen disco programme.

The comments on here are much more entertaining than the tv output!

i flicked between a disappointing hootenany, and alicia keys, feeling the sophie ellis bextor love, watched her kitchen disco this morning thanks to a mn recommendation, as well as the graham norton pliug

i think the point with SEB is we see her, and her kids, milling around, looking bored

Err yeah Alicia CAN sing, and she is gorgeous. I enjoyed it!

If Alicia carries on singing as she does then she'll have no voice left. I speak as a singer- head back, frowning face and pushing out note to the point she's singing though the croaking is a recipe for issues.
So many people missed the "firework" display on BBC 1 because they'd switched her off. So many bloody amazing musicians who have had no work this year too and would have jumped at the chance for a gig.

I liked Craig David last year

I love Hootenanny although was a bit emotional seeing all the clips of previous years with crowds of people and reminiscing about happier times.

The drones broke me tbh

I liked Alicia keys

I didn’t like her outfit

We had netflix on and I said we should have anlook what's on normal🤦 Turned it on exactly when she was playing, lasted 30 secs, went back to netflix and real life fireworks.

Mind me, I used to like her!
