To think getting my nose pierced really hurt

Cantstopwontstopeating · 29/12/2020 22:55

I got my nose pierced today and I don’t know if I’m getting soft but it actually really hurt. I’ve had it done twice before over the years with a gun and I barely flinched.

Today was a different story, i had it done with a needle and I thought I was going to pass out. Over the years I’ve had (nearly but not quite!!) every piercing imaginable and this was deffo the worst one!

Anyone else think it hurt?

I’ve had mine done 3 times in total. It stung but it didn’t hurt. My friend fainted after she got hers done though.

I cannot believe how many of you have had your noses pierced with guns! I feel a bit sick at the thought of it Envy

AlwaysLatte · 30/12/2020 00:57

I had it done years ago when I was in my early twenties and I remember my eye watering uncontrollably! It was a waste because I worried what people would think and took it out when I got home...

CarefreeandInnocent · 30/12/2020 01:05

I've heard the worst two places are too of the war cartilage and septum. Because much harder cartilage than in an earlobe.

TheSunIsStillShining · 30/12/2020 01:07

I didn't even know you could have it done with a gun!
I had mine done about 25/27 years ago. In one go: nose, 5 in each earlobe. All with needles. I did have enough sanitizing and "calming fluids" in my system to not flinch at any of them.

Just to find out a few weeks later that I am absolutely allergic to all metals except proper medical ones. But at that time in eastern europe that was not an option I could afford.
If that wouldn't have been the case I'd probably be full of holes by now :)

Thank god I'm not allergic to tattoo ink....

Nowaynothappening · 30/12/2020 01:10

Had it done 3 times, once with a gun and twice with a needle. It’s definitely one of the most painful, I had lots of piercings done over the years and I’d say that and scaffolding were both the worst. Nipple was pretty rough too.

thaegumathteth · 30/12/2020 01:17

My nose piercing with the needle was really painful. Much worse than a tattoo for example.

CarefreeandInnocent · 30/12/2020 01:19

This is gonna sound daft but I really had no idea they still used needles

shitinmyhandsandclap · 30/12/2020 01:44

Still use needles? They shouldn't be using anything other than needles.

I had mine done at the start of November, the piercing itself didn't hurt but I was in agony as she tried to manipulate the ring in, I was bruised for days afterwards. It's healed really well though after using Prontolind spray

shitinmyhandsandclap · 30/12/2020 01:45

Start of December that should be 🙄

BeTheHokeyMan · 30/12/2020 01:53

I got mine done years ago with a gun, it was so stingySad was painful for weeks after and never healed properly. Would like to get it done now again but too much of a wimp these days Blush

LoveMyKidsAndCats · 30/12/2020 02:00

I got my nose done with a gun in and found it painless I was told by a mate my eyes would water but they didn't. Belly button on the other hand bloody killed.

vanillandhoney · 30/12/2020 04:07

Mine was done by needle and was practically painless.

vanillandhoney · 30/12/2020 04:08

@CarefreeandInnocent

This is gonna sound daft but I really had no idea they still used needles
As opposed to what?

They shouldn't be using anything but a needle. Where are all these places using guns to pierce peoples faces? Shock

BTole · 30/12/2020 04:43

If anyone is piercing you with a gun - run. Piercing guns apply blunt trauma to soft tissues/cartilage which means the stud/jewellery basically tears through you. A needle is sharp and cut on an angle so it cuts clean through the skin. Also, with guns, they are unable to be sterilised properly, so when you're getting pierced with one, you run the risk of getting other people's bodily fluids in your own body, whereas a needle is single use and sterile. If you're getting pierced with a gun you're running the risk of all sorts of diseases. Needles hurt less than a gun and require more skill to use as opposed to someone who has done 3 hours training by watching videos online. As an ex piercer - believe me.

MrsOmelette · 30/12/2020 05:56

I’ve had my nose done twice, once gun and once needle. Neither were that bad, did make my eyes water was I was told that was a common reaction to nose being done. Out of all my piercings I’d say my tragus hurt the most, tongue felt the weirdest and nipples I felt the most anxious beforehand. My hood piercing was the least painful, I didn’t even know when they’d done it.

OptimisticSix · 30/12/2020 10:24

I have had a lot of piercings, ears, tops of ears, belly button, vch, and nose. The nose was the worst. I had it done 3 times, the last time with a gun (2 previous with a needle) that was the worst and never healed up properly. I would never have another piercing with a gun (except earlobes).

SimonJT · 30/12/2020 10:30

Please never let a dirty piercing gun near your body, not only are they dirty they can cause severe trauma to cartilage in the form of hypertrophic scarring. Guns are only designed for soft tissue, you can get single use guns, but unless you see it come out of the packet it is likely it has been used before.

My nose didn’t hurt, it did cause that sting you get that really is specific to your nose, like when you pull a nostril hair out.

My nipple hurt though, I taped a little plastic eyepatch over it so my clothes didn’t touch it for a few days.

NameChangeUnwiseAdvice · 30/12/2020 11:10

I think the top of my ear hurt worse than my nose and then it got infected how rude.

Also in terms of gross feelings my lip was awful. Awful. Just remembering makes me want to be sick. The needle sliding through bleurghhhhggghgggghhhhhhhhhhhhh

Xmassprout · 30/12/2020 11:12

I found it really painful too, made my eyes water

theblackparade · 30/12/2020 11:46

Please please please do not get any piercings done with guns, people. They can’t be sterilised properly and cause additional trauma to the area around the piercing. Even earlobes should be done with a needle by a trained professional, not a 17 year old working part time in Claire’s.

Iwantacookie · 30/12/2020 12:03

My nose was awful probably my worse piercing and I have loads.
I'm 99% sure i had it done with a needle but it was 20+ years ago so I cant remember

MorganKitten · 30/12/2020 12:38

Why are people getting any piercings with a gun? They can’t be sterilised fully and cause more trauma to the skin.

My nose was done two years ago with a needle and hurt the first week and has healed fine, when I had the jewellery changed the piercer said it’s one of the best healings he’s seen.

79andnotout · 30/12/2020 12:41

Yep, I had loads of piercing in my day and nose was the worst!

BuzzingTheBee · 30/12/2020 12:45

I didnt think it hurt much at all

Groovinpeanut · 30/12/2020 12:52

I had mine done years ago with a gun. It wasn't painful, and I've never had any problems with it.
