Merry Christmas. Southern Comfort is horrible

I’m an argumentative old cow, but I genuinely enjoy talking to many people on here - so can I:

A) Wish you a Merry Christmas; and

B) Warn you that, if you run out of wine and decide a shot of something from the spirits cupboard will help you sleep, Southern Comfort is a bad choice? It’s like childhood medicine without the promise of feeling better 🤮🤮🤮

Happy Christmas! 🎄

Best cocktail ever - drunken Apricot.

Apricot sitting in southern comfort.
Flute topped up with champagne.

Heaven.
Favourite cocktail bar in the early 90's near Leicester Square, called something like Nautilus, great for pre-theatre drinks.

Southern comfort, lime and lemonade or swizzles as we called it was one of the biggest influences of my late teenage years.

ElDavidmeister · 25/12/2020 12:51

I agree. I got scammed thinking it was a whiskey in Namibia. The poor waiter with broken English couldn't understand why I was so upset telling him he got me the wrong drink. I left a big tip

FuzzyPuffling · 25/12/2020 13:03

It is indeed revolting stuff.
Merry Christmas!

HerBigChance · 25/12/2020 17:21

@Aquamarine1029

Southern Comfort is liquid straight from the devil's arsehole. I can't even look at the bottle after a very unfortunate night when I was 18.
Exactly the same here.

Except I was nearer 30 Blush

Janaih · 25/12/2020 17:24

When we were 16 dbro got drunk on Southern Comfort and apple tango. I have never seen anyone vomit quite so much 😁

Echo08 · 26/12/2020 00:12

Southern Comfort lime and lemonade 😋 yummy.

Yeap same here 😁.

I love southern comfort with lemonade!

MargotLovedTom1 · 26/12/2020 00:19

As teens we used to be very fond of a Gatsby or two: Southern Comfort, dry ginger and lime (cordial). The last time two times I drank SC (definitely not in my teens!) I was bloody blootered and threw up the next day. Wouldn't touch it again 😑.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 26/12/2020 00:23

@MargotLovedTom1 Gatsbys sound lovely!

Vodka and orange juice is my ‘can’t even stand the smell of it’ drink

You were all clearly more sophisticated than me 😂

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 26/12/2020 00:24

My unfortunate night was at 17. It was the only thing in the cabinet at home that no-one ever touched so I thought I could get away with drinking it. I think the phrase then was ‘I spewed my ring’ or some such.

Just the smell of it over 30 years on makes me cowk.

alltoomuchrightnow · 26/12/2020 00:24

It's the most sick Ive ever been in my entire life. Full on alcohol poisoning. N Y Eve, and I was about 21

alltoomuchrightnow · 26/12/2020 00:26

I also got stuck by ice/frost to a car bonnet (face down) on the same night under the influence. And puked inside my best friend's partner's new coat

MargotLovedTom1 · 26/12/2020 00:26

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery they are/were! Wink Southern Comfort does seem to have a fairly emetic effect if this thread is anything to go by Grin.

Linnet · 26/12/2020 00:29

I drink southern comfort and coke, I’m on my second of the night. I can’t drink Jack Daniels due to over doing it in my early 20’s 🤮

MrsGulDukat · 26/12/2020 00:31

I'm take one for the team OP and drink it for you.

Southern Comfort and Cherry 7up is the fucking bomb.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 26/12/2020 00:33

DH loves Southern Comfort. I'm not a fan, although I don't mind it with lime and lemonade. We always bicker good-naturedly over whether that's called a Steamboat (me) or a Swizzle (DH).

@Linnet thats me with vodka and coke - just the smell makes me heave after a very messy 20th birthday.

TheoriginalLEM · 26/12/2020 00:34

The trouble ive been in due to southern comfort. It does have an evil switch

FoxInABox · 26/12/2020 00:37

@PatMustardsBigTool oh yes I was just about to say as a steamboat it’s lovely! Couldn’t drink it straight though.

MrsToothyBitch · 26/12/2020 00:37

DP loves it (there's a bottle under the tree for him from my parents!). I wouldn't choose it as a drink but I've had the odd sip of his SoCo & mixer of choice and it wasn't unpleasant! He really likes it, I might have to show him this thread!

😂🤣😂 I’m so sorry, but this image has me Mutley laughing. I’m not sure whether to ask why you were face down on the bonnet in the first place or just quietly move on 😁

Grin it certainly sounds... interesting Grin maybe I’ll try it at home near a toilet

user1471557138 · 26/12/2020 00:48

I fell into a bath in someone’s house many years ago after drinking SC and couldn’t get out. Poor fuckers who were waiting for the toilet after me 🙈. I did indeed (as a PP said( puke my ring up afterwards 🤮🤮🤮

Oh god, this is bringing back... er, bringing it back

Let’s just say vodka and orange tastes the same both ways.

And being drunk in a friends bathroom with floral tiles, border, wallpaper, mat, blinds, even bloody bog roll, all in different floral patterns (it was the 90s, but still...) does NOT help.

I should remember this more, at least it’s put me off my gin Xmas Grin
