To think day drinking is acceptable in this situation?

Happy Christmas Eve everyone! Grin

So have the kids all day tomorrow which I am so looking forward to. However, they go to their dads on Boxing Day for the day and overnight.

I haven't had a day like this to myself where I have nothing on in so long and I'm really looking forward to it.

Planning on cracking the champagne as soon as they leave (10 am ish) Grin is this acceptable?

Also other than eating and drinking all day could anyone recommend anything else I could get up to or any films/series I could watch?

Sorry if you can't tell I am ever so slightly excited maybe more than Christmas Day.

We're in a pandemic and it's Christmas.

Literally the only situation where day drinking wouldn't be okay is if you were about to perform open heart surgery.

Grits · 24/12/2020 19:19

Binge on Home for Christmas on Netflix, its Norwegian (but dubbed) and is very festive and funny!

ifonly4 · 24/12/2020 19:23

Just for one day, go for it and enjoy.

TableFlowerss · 24/12/2020 19:23

It’s Christmas lass, anything goes! Enjoy!

whereismydonkey · 24/12/2020 19:25

Absolutely ok as long as kids are not around.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 24/12/2020 19:33

Firstly @whereismydonkey day drinking is always okay between xmas and new year. However it is ESPECIALLY okay if it's your day without the kids!

Lara53 · 24/12/2020 19:36

Can recommend Life in Pieces and This is Us

Daisy829 · 24/12/2020 19:39

Yeah definitely. Alcohol, snacks, tv & I think I would fit in a little daytime snooze if I could. Sounds blissful.

Gonkytonk · 24/12/2020 19:39

This is my dream day!
The Queens Gambit on Netflix is my recommendation. 7 episode binge fest and it’s so good. Enjoy!

Cam2020 · 24/12/2020 19:41

I'd e rude not to! Enjoy it 🥂

KeyboardWorriers · 24/12/2020 19:42

Natsel84 · 24/12/2020 19:42

What a great thread. The rule for the DW and I is usually after 7:00 in the evening, but when we went on holiday many years ago, we had a bit of a surprise. Nice village in Burgundy, we stayed in a gite. Got up one morning to go for a walk and explore and the lady who owned the gite/winery, asked us to join her for a quick glass of wine at 10:00 in the morning. Well, it would have been rude to refuse, the White Burgundy - Puligny Montrachet - was good, and two hours later we were sozzled.
I have no idea what we did the rest of the day Grin

JLLproblem · 24/12/2020 20:10

Christmas time is like airport time: you can eat and drink what you like when you like.

Livpool · 24/12/2020 20:11

Day drinking is perfectly acceptable over Christmas- it is usually needed anyway

whereismydonkey · 24/12/2020 20:13

@andyoldlabour haha brilliant Grin sounds like my kind of day Wine

We went on holiday to Lanzarote, first time on our own, made friends with a great group of people at the all inclusive resort. One day it was a bit too cloudy for sunbathing, so 15 of us settled down to play cards at about 11 am. By 1 we had set up one of the guys with a dare that if he lost he had to jump in the pool (that no one ever went in because it was freezing cold). He foolishly went to the toilet mid game. He ended up in the pool, fully clothed at which point we all staggered into lunch and then had to go for a lie down to sleep it off!

One of the best holidays we had ever had!

Grinchycrinchy · 24/12/2020 20:29

This sounds like heaven! Was my life pre toddler Dd 😂go for it

MintyMabel · 24/12/2020 20:37

Entirely acceptable of you want to do it.

I’m not sure if I had a day to myself I’d want to spend it getting drunk, then having a hangover when the kids come back, though.

hansgrueber · 24/12/2020 20:38

Why wait til they leave? Surely your breakfast orange juice could be improved with some sparkle, they'd never know!

loulouljh · 24/12/2020 20:38

Think its compulsory!

2pinkginsplease · 24/12/2020 20:40

Totally acceptable! It’s Christmas! 🎅🏻🎄🎅🏻🎄

Enjoy! 🥂

wigglerose · 24/12/2020 20:42

If I wasn't pregnant I'd be on my third glass of wine by now I reckon.
