Cooking the in laws

Pumba3 · 24/12/2020 16:37

Is is unreasonable to consider cooking the in laws for Christmas dinner as they have NOT STOPPED EATING since they got here and we will have run out of food by tomorrow?

I think cooking all of them is a bit mean, could you not just lightly grill their fingers sprinkled with lemon and garlic and serve with lots of potatoes?

VinylDetective · 24/12/2020 16:40

I bet they’d be really tough.

FoxyTheFox · 24/12/2020 16:40

Don't cook them, they're more nutritious served raw. Or if you can't face that then mulch them up and use them to fertilise the garden.

TuxedoPanther · 24/12/2020 16:43

Good soak in wine over night should sort that odd.

You could even add some vinegar but maybe they’re too sour already?

ThomasHardyPerennial · 24/12/2020 16:44

Make a lovely fresh smoothie with them.

Fromage · 24/12/2020 16:45

They might be quite bitter.

But maybe fatten them up? Nothing but lard and treacle till.sundown tomorrow, then stew in a slow oven overnight. Serve with fava beans and Chianti.

Whythesadface · 24/12/2020 16:46

You don't need to bloody mess when you try to skin them.
But if you must try heating the bath tub from below, and bring to a gentle bubble.

MrsMoastyToasty · 24/12/2020 16:47

Long and slow cooking, preferably in a pit in the ground. I suggest you lift a few patio slabs first.

WhatTiggersDoBest · 24/12/2020 16:48

I hear they're excellent with a garlic and lemon jus, steamed beans and some boiled new potatoes.

Stilldamngorgeous · 24/12/2020 16:49

Good idea and they'll probably be some left over for sandwiches on Boxing Day.

Pumba3 · 24/12/2020 16:55

Excellent suggestions and some very good points!! Anyone else lumbered with the in laws with no escape in sight....yet?! I wouldn’t mind but they are as tight as can be and you’d be lucky to get a glass of water at their house!!

Lindy2 · 24/12/2020 16:56

Mine wouldn't fit in the oven. She's also not here this year - which is perhaps the only plus side of tier 4.

Pumba3 · 24/12/2020 16:57

@TuxedoPanther no worries about soaking in wine overnight as they have been slowly pickling in red wine since they arrived yesterday!

Maybe slow cooked overnight?
WhatKatyDidNxt · 24/12/2020 16:59

Dare you! How about some sweet chilli sauce on the side?

SpaceRaiders · 24/12/2020 17:00

YABU if they’re chewy you’re not preparing them right. I like mine deboned and grilled.

SilverOtter · 24/12/2020 17:08

They're generally very gristly. Definitely require long, slow cooking.

luckylavender · 24/12/2020 17:10

Pumba3 - nope, most of us can't see our relatives

Oysterbabe · 24/12/2020 17:13

Eating is what Christmas is about. Maybe you didn't buy enough food?

ForTheLoveOfCatFood · 24/12/2020 18:03

YABU as it sounds like the meat would be fatty.
Stash some food away for you and leave DH and In laws to it Grin

16.37. OP's post, 17.13. First nasty post. You're late @Oysterbabe. BTW Christmas isn't about eating. Did you miss that it's about Christ being born in a stable, and, silly question here, did you realise that one of the phrases for Christmas is Peace and Goodwill to all men? You must have been on your broomstick.
Pumba3 · 24/12/2020 18:17

@Fuckingcrustybread I can further confirm your comment by adding that at £300 on groceries I doubt that is the problem! My FiL is currently directing my husband in where to move the bed in the spare room as he doesn’t like it’s original position fml!!

OP posts:
Nikhedonia · 24/12/2020 18:19

I wouldn't eat them, but I absolutely would chuck them into the food recycling bin.

Fuckingcrustybread · 24/12/2020 18:50

@Pumba3
What a cheeky fucker, moving the bed!! Some bloody people really take the piss!

You say fatty.

I say crackling.
