Just a reminder that as well as the wonderful seek groups that are providing food etc at the moment, the Salvation Army is also sending meals and food parcels etc.

Also Ramsgate Football club opened their kitchens to cook food and delivered it to Manston. Ashford international truck stop opened to prepare food for those on the M20. And there are plenty of local people trying to help out, there’s been requests for translators on local fb so they can communicate with those stranded that don’t speak English. And, whilst it’s excellent that ordinary people come together at times like this, it should be in addition, out of humanity not out of absolute need. KCC have been doing a good job (I imagine it’s going to cost them money they won’t be getting back from the government). At least the Thanet MP has been down to Manston to see for himself what’s going on, but the Dover MP seems to have spent the last few days spending her time on Twitter slagging off France. Anyway, finally things are moving and though not all will get home for Christmas, KCC have been liaising with local landowners etc to provide better places, for those stranded, to stay. But thanks should also go to all of the port staff, ferry operators, healthcare providers, emergency services and the military who are all working all over the Christmas period to ensure everyone gets home as soon as possible.

Thank you to everyone working to help those stuck, it should have been foreseen and plans put in place ages ago and yes, I am wondering why the Army have not been asked to do more.
