Currently sat watching "sharktopus" on prime... it's about a killer octopus with a sharks head..

It is so bad it's amazing!

I love this type of film so much!

Anyone else share my love for these type of films?

See also... the Meg... sharknado... piranha..anaconda ..

Love these movies.

Has anyone seen The Zoo tv series, it got worse as time went on but I was invested in watching it only for them to bloody cancel it.

shamus2020 · 21/12/2020 18:21

47 metres down had me having heart palpitations 😅

Zombeavers 🤦🏻‍♀️

Rubber (about a killer tyre 😂)

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 21/12/2020 18:24

Snakes on a plane!

LongPauseNoAnswer · 21/12/2020 18:27

Lake Placid - so awfully good. Also Anaconda.

Non nature related - Daylight, Evil Dead and a series on Netflix called Black Summer.

Also Z Nation. The giant cheese wheel of zombies was epic. I never laughed so hard!

twinkleprincess2020 · 21/12/2020 18:51

I'm new to sharknado but watched them all 1 after the other on prime the other month. oh i loved them
a good/bad film is fire twister its hillarious

GreenCat44 · 21/12/2020 19:06

I love terrible horror films. I actually have sharktopus on dvd because it's my favourite and I crocheted a sharktopus for my niece (it had a severed arm too Grin)

SecretWitch · 21/12/2020 19:11

I am currently recovering from diverticulitis and feeling pretty ill. I have watched “The Poseidon Adventure (1972) and “War of the Worlds” (Tom Cruise edition) Both have cheered me up very nicely.

CounsellorTroi · 21/12/2020 19:12

The Poseidon Adventure remake - just called Poseidon - is on Netflix. I enjoyed that too!

LilacSloth · 21/12/2020 19:17

Skyscraper with Dwayne Johnson was ridiculous in a good way

Lillygolightly · 21/12/2020 19:20

The thing - 1980 version with Kurt Russel

Reign of Fire - Christian Bale & fire breathing dragons...what’s not to like!!!

Also love tremors, twister, Armageddon, Poseidon adventure, Airplane 1 & 2 etc etc

Cookie79 · 21/12/2020 19:22

Daylight with Sylvester Stallone is a good one for cheesy plots and by the book storylines.

More of a comedy but I love Evolution with David Duchovny and Julianne Moore.

SecretWitch · 21/12/2020 19:28

@CounsellorTro, ohhh thanks for the heads up! That will take care of tomorrow!

Mammyloveswine · 21/12/2020 20:35

@CounsellorTroi I watched that the other week and it made me anxious.. I could not do any of the things needed to survive Grin

Anyone else seen "no escape" with Owen Wilson and pierce Brosnan?? Omg that film gave me a heart attack almost!!?

PurpleWave · 21/12/2020 20:52

I love these types of films. Tremors is literally my favourite film ever. I tried to get my 11-year-old to watch it with me but he got too freaked out so I must bide my time until he's ready again.

30not13 · 21/12/2020 20:55

Totally outing but my fave film as a child was Towering Inferno

Love a good disaster movie! Deep Impact, Dante's Peak, Daylight, Vertical Limit, Deep Blue Sea all brill!

Wouldnt however call Arachnophobia or Sharknado disaster movies sorry

Shinyletsbebadguys · 21/12/2020 21:07

I love any action horror film that within the first ten minutes we have seen the protagonist act out badly a failing marriage , a failing relationship with child and workaholism all shown in three minute conversations just before something blows up / mutates/ comes back from the dead.

Although at this point I keep finding some films feel a bit too familiar and then think bugger I think I'm living in that one.

I'm constantly surprised that the ticker tape under the briefings don't refer to zombies.

Butchyrestingface · 21/12/2020 21:46

@Butchyrestingface may I recommend "they walk among us" podcast... have loved it!

Thank you. All recommendations welcome. I'm taking two weeks off work and fully intend to spend it lying on the sofa frying a million brain cells and scaring myself rigid with murder after murder after murder. 😍

Gindrinker43 · 21/12/2020 22:15

Currently reading this thread with the Amazon remote in my hand and a growing watchlist. I'm thinking Llamageddon might be next, but can it beat Firetwister?

Purplecatshopaholic · 21/12/2020 22:28

Love a Sharknado, lol. Also Deep Blue Sea

FenellaVelour · 21/12/2020 22:36

Yes big difference between disaster movie (I guess something you could actually imagine happening with no supernatural element) and horror, particularly schlock horror.

I love both but am particularly fond of a disaster movie. Remember as a child enjoying both Towering Inferno and the Poseidon Adventure.

poshme · 21/12/2020 22:46

Deep blue sea also good

User478 · 21/12/2020 23:03

Deep Blue Sea is amazing, I can do the whole rap from the credits. (I don't though because it would be mortifying if anyone knew, but it's my traffic jam)

There was an amazing film on Netflix called Earthquake 10.0 it might have been the greatest film I've ever seen.

I've watched the first 10 minutes of Planet of the Sharks on Prime, now I have to wait for DH to go out to watch the rest of it but it looks promisingly shite.
