DH fell asleep in DD bed

DH had last day of demanding job today and has just come home for Christmas. Let DD (3yo) wait up for him.
He’s just taken her to bed and accidentally fallen asleep with her 🤍 but he’s still fully clothed! She’s in a single bed. Shall I wake him or let him sleep? He must be exhausted

YABU - let him sleep
YANBU - wake him

I know this seems silly 😂

I mean wake him to go to our bed & get changed etc

Ah let them sleep all cuddled up - what's the harm? I regularly slept in DDs bed at that age as it was the only way she'd sleep through the night

ForeverBubblegum · 18/12/2020 21:52

That happens to me so often, DS only goes to sleep if I lie next to him pretending to be asleep, and when your tired, comfy, and lying with your eyes closed it's going to happen.

Has he eaten? If so I'd let him sleep, if not I'd prefer to be woken sooner then wake up hungry at midnight and not be able to get back to sleep.

Furrybootsyecomfy · 18/12/2020 21:55

Oh very cute. If he’s fed and watered, leave him be. He’ll probably wake up when he tries to roll over and lands on the floor!

Neighneigh · 18/12/2020 21:59

Leave him be. I'd put his pjs out somewhere obvious to find so he's not clambering around at 1am when he inevitably falls out.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 18/12/2020 22:00

Dh falls asleep putting one of our DD’s to bed almost every 2nd day.

I just leave him as long as we have eaten dinner and get to watch whatever trash I want on TV!
He normally staggers into our room at about midnight.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 18/12/2020 22:00

Oh that's adorable, like others have said if he's fed and watered leave him be.

CheshireSplat · 18/12/2020 22:04

So cute. I'd let him sleep.

Al1langdownthecleghole · 18/12/2020 22:04

Look forward to having your bed to yourself. Turn off everything downstairs really quietly, creep silently up to your room so as not to wake him, stealthily get under the covers and stretch out.

Your DH will appear instantly. Trust me.

MorganKitten · 18/12/2020 22:05

Let him sleep

MsAwesomeReindeer · 18/12/2020 22:07

I fell asleep in dd's bed with her most nights at that age. Dh used to wake me up and send me to bed. I was quite happy with that because our bed is more comfortable than dd's bed was.

AnneLovesGilbert · 18/12/2020 22:08

If they’re in bed then I’d leave him. DD sleeps on a mattress on the floor so when I nod off settling her I wake up aching like a bastard and have asked DH to wake me if he’s still up.

Bibidy · 18/12/2020 22:12

I'd wake him.

You know your DD is in a deep sleep now if she's just gone off, he might end up waking her when he gets up if he's there for a couple of hours.

Blueballoons4 · 18/12/2020 22:17

Does he tend to toss and turn at night? If you think he might accidentally roll onto your daughter, or roll out of the bed (which would hurt and leave him bruised), maybe it would be best to wake him? Apparently a sleep cycle, with the different phases of sleep, lasts about 90 minutes, so if he doesn’t wake up then maybe you could wake him about 90 mins after he fell asleep.

marmitegirl01 · 18/12/2020 22:17

Why do you not know what your H would want you to do ???

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 18/12/2020 22:17

I’d wake him. If he’s that tired he deserves to have a good night sleep in his own bed not squished in a single bed with a small child.

peboh · 18/12/2020 22:18

Oh I'd leave them, but I'm a sucker for dh and dd snoozing together. It melts me and I never have the heart to disturb them.

KarmaNoMore · 18/12/2020 22:20

Wake him up and take him to your bed, I fell asleep many times with DS when I was trying to get him to sleep, then woke up with a painful neck feeling dreadful still with day clothes.

He will thank him for taking care of him when he is exhausted 🙂

Omeara · 18/12/2020 22:20

I would leave him and move your daughter into your bed.

KarmaNoMore · 18/12/2020 22:21

Or at least, remove the shoes and cover him with a warm blanket 🙂

LuckyAmy1986 · 18/12/2020 22:27

Sweet but if it was me I would want to be woken up abs brought back to my own bed for a better nights sleep. I know DH would think the same. Only you would know what he would prefer?

SarahAndQuack · 18/12/2020 22:36

I'd leave him unless his position is very obviously uncomfortable.

@Blueballoons4 - the OP's DD is 3? I think you're thinking of tiny ones, where those things really are a concern. But a three year old will just shove back if someone rolls onto them.

FangsForTheMemory · 18/12/2020 22:42

@marmitegirl01 Always one, eh?

DumplingsAndStew · 18/12/2020 22:48

I hope you took a photo Grin

BabyGirlNumber2 · 18/12/2020 22:53

My dad used to fall asleep when reading me a bedtime story. My mum says she used to hear these little feet on the stairs and then I’d pop my head round and say “Daddy’s fallen asleep again, can you finish my story?!”

Leave him be. It’s cute. He’ll probably wake up at some point and transfer over to his proper bed!
