Appendicitis

AIBU to ask how your symptoms of appendicitis started ?

I have had a really sudden sharp stabbing pain in my right ovary area since yesterday, when I woke up this morning it was alot more frequent and lasted longer. I called the doctor and they said it's either appendicitis or a cyst. I don't want to waste NHS time if it's a cyst and I thought with appendicitis it was a constant pain so did anyone else have this type pain and have to have their removed?

For me it was a day of feeling iffy, and then starting with a really sore tummy when I got back from college. Escalated to really bad pain and mum called GP out (I was a teen). GP diagnosed suspected appendicitis after examining me - the thing that confirmed it in his mind was when he pushed in to my abdomen and it didn’t hurt much but when he released it was agony. As a PP mentioned, that can be a really strong indicator. I wouldn’t chance it OP, not worth it. Hope you feel better soon!

The sooner you go the more likely they can treat with antibiotics and not surgery, I had the option but was advised to have it out as it can reoccur and sometimes within the next 6 months and I was 15 weeks pregnant.

I think you should still get checked out.

Mine was very sudden onset. About 5pm just leaving IKEA thought about visiting toilets but queue to get back in to store was huge so figured I could get home.

At home, had some dinner, but gassy, lots of time on toilet sent DH in search of Gaviscon/Rennie during which time it turned into waves of pain reminiscent of labour and localised to lower right quadrant. Had brief, slight temperature at this point. Other apparently characteristic sign was that jarring (footsteps/potholes) was worse than swaying (going around bends in car). Definitely needed right leg bent.

Nausea but was never sick. Zero appetite after dinner for next 38+ hours but I could drink.

Rebound pain on palpation was obvious to competent medic. Wouldn't be able to do it myself as I'm not a medic.

Nothing visible on scan but pain/presentation so obvious they did laparoscopic surgery and found and removed a red and inflamed appendix.

I'd be leaning towards getting checked out before tomorrow tbh from what you've said.

Don't take any risks. By the time they were prepping me for theatre, I had sepsis. It was very fast.

Atypical presentation. Precise recollection of when the pain started (1110am on a Wednesday in a school lesson). Painful but not overly so. Felt worse by Saturday morning - went to GP and got sent home with IBS diagnosis. By Monday morning (bank holiday) felt worse - and breathed on DM who knew something was wrong because my breath smelt like a sewer. Taken to A&E who sent me back to GP 10 miles away for a referral. Drive back to hospital with GP letter with changed diagnosis abs hospital admitted me. Still no one was sure what it was because of atypical presentation (no temp or vomiting). Monitored for a bit and was then admitted for a poke about. Suddenly got worse on the Tuesday morning and was taken for surgery later that day, by which time appendix had burst and gone gangrenous. Four hour operation followed. I think I was in quite bad shape by the end.

Mine started with me just feeling sick. Progressed to pain the next day. Please get yourself checked out. My mum didnt believe how ill I felt (I was 15), out of hours doctor said i might be pregnant or have kidney stones and mine ended up bursting. Not nice and I feel lucky to still be here
