Today I bought myself a bag of lollipops.

I know, sorry, I should have made sure you were sitting down first Grin

Anyway. I saw them, I thought 'oh yum, I love those lollipops', and then continued to walk past them, feeling somehow like I could look but not touch. Until I realised - hang on a damn minute, I'm 33 years old and I want a fucking bag of lollipops.

Does anybody else ever forget that they're a 'grown up' and occasionally have to remind themselves that they can do what the hell they want?

According to a particular psychological theory we have "child ego states" that are more than memories ifswim. When triggered we suddenly feel the age of the memory. Your "adult", which is your here and now authentic self says "hang on a minute!" HTH 🤩🤣

God, no.

I’ve always done as I so please which is why I’m 14 stone I suspect

However far and away the best thing about behind an adult is living life the way I want to !! Love irn!’

Shock I totally get the bread crusts, but you haven't lived until you've dunked your pizza crust in some lovely sauce Grin

@HedgehogPJs

Oh this happened to me today! I was walking back through town this afternoon by myself (which as a SAHM is basically unheard of) and on a whim decided to get a cone of chips to eat on the way back up the road. I passed some school kids who looked jealously at my chips and I wanted to say to them ‘yes, this is one of the benefits of being a grown up - random chips at 3.30pm, just because I can!’
This really made me laugh ! xx

God this post makes me realise I'm pretty self indulgent! Go for it though op and pp's!

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 11/12/2020 20:18

Only 5 posts in and pissed myself at eating the "crusts off a sandpit" thanks pp. I needed that today 😅

I don't know what made me do it, but I was walking down the birthday cake aisle in Tesco, and I saw just a simple cake with icing and I remembered how lovely those cakes were when were kids. All 3 of our birthdays are within 4 weeks of the year, we haven't had any for ages, so I just bought a birthday cake!! Why? Because I fancied one, and I bloody well could!!

Was amazing!

@Flibbertigibbet2211 I've just mentioned on another thread that I've gone from

"I open my mouth and my mother falls out"

To

"I open my mouth and my grandparents fall out"

This is particularly true when I wiki politicians (many of whom do look about 12 to me!) and I exclaim to myself

"Oh ffs they're younger than me!"

Conveniently forgetting I'm middle aged myself! This is usually quickly followed with

"Wtf can they possibly know about life enough to run the country?!" Grin

I'm not at all convinced I'm wrong!
