To want my living room back

We have a 5 not far off 6 year old DS, he has all his toys in a downstairs cupboard and in the living room. His brother is 11 so they rarely play together therefore he plays in the living room with his stuff. How long before I can reclaim the space and evict everything upstairs to his own bedroom?

I've got a couple of nice wooden trunks in the living room for toys, they double as coffee tables when the DC are in bed. You've probably only got 2 or 3 more years of toys, let him play in the living room. He wants to be be near you.

@DontTouchTheMoustache

Ds is 4 and I let him keep a small box of toys in the living room but the rest stays in his room
I followed this then at the age of 5 then everything went upstairs

Our home is the home for all of us. My girls had toys downstairs and upstairs. Now my 5 year old dgs who comes here after school everyday has a toy box in the lounge which is tucked away when he leaves each day. Plus he has a bedroom here with his toys too. He likes to play downstairs mostly and I can understand that as can get quite lonely confined to their rooms to play. I've always been of the opinion that this is a shared home. Our lounge goes back to adult lounge for the evenings. Now my younger dd is 14 she doesnt have toys but still has her art things and I have my crochet things. We all sit in lounge as its cosier x
